Beautiful green in the leaves. On my monitor also, the pretty little flower is a bit bright. Boy, there seems to be such a difference in monotors. In my Moonlight picture, some people see a line and a rock that I don't see on my monitor. Hopefully, I'll be getting a new monitor soon. Maybe Santa will help out with that. Mary

Hi Roger, A very nice composition but I'm afraid the little flower looks very overexposed on my monitor whilst the leaves are just about perfect. Interesting colour, though ~ almost like a cyan-green. Best regards, Chris

Here you go, Margaret. Say "yookoso." That is a polite and friendly way of saying "welcome." The double "o" identifies a long syllable (Japanese has long and short syllables, you don't lengthen or shorten them for emphasis as we do in English; that would change the meaning!). The pronunciation is "yo" as in the start of "your" and "ko" as in the start of "cough" and "so" as in "sot." The rhythm is "daa-dit-dit" (if you know Morse code). If you add their name and tag on "san" it should be clear you are trying to say something in Japanese. So you would say to me "Yookoso, Roger-san." Hope this helps.

Thanks Rob, but the yellow flower was well within the area of focus, so I think it must be an optical illusion. Or something... Two people have said it is over-exposed, which it also doesn't look on my screen.

Dingo, I wondered about that. I already sent off a reply to the address you gave. I'll try again! I know why your mail bounces and will explain how to avoid it.

Good work, though I think it worked I feel that the flower itseld is a tad less sharp than the leaves. Cheers.

Roger - thank you for the compliment - in return I have just taken a shot of one of the roses from the bouquet for you, [just uploaded it]. I would also like to ask a favour - I have some relatives coming from Australia at the weekend, they have been learning Japanese. It is possible you could tell me how to say - hello /welcome or something in Japanese. If it is possible to get me to understand phonetically. Hope you like your rose Margaret

I like the composition, the detail and shapes in the leaves, and the angel you used, do give a great backdrop for the flower. Was not going to say the flower itself was a little bright [:) :)] but as Paul mentioned it, it is a little bright on my screen. I must admit I would quite like to have a look at my portfolio on a couple of different monitors - might be quite a revelation. Margaret

Hmmm. I'll have to watch that. It's just perfect on MY LCD (I had to do a bit of "burn" to tone it down). I am thinking I need to install colour management hardware and software... not cheap but worth it, they say.

I like the composition and the angle..I think you pulled off the perspective but I think the flower itself is a bit overexposed (maybe it is just my monitor)

I think it did work, Roger. But, for me, it is due to the stark contrast in colour, added to the shallow focus, rather than the plane of the leaves.
It creates an effective image through contrast, selective sharpness, and of course, the single flower aspect.
An impressive, and well composed floral, Roger.
Colin
