Yeah, they're all over the place! Mine was at Takahatafudo, just the next stop to my home on the commuter line about 30min away from Shinjuku. Just after I wrote my note to you, I found out that it was my Opera browser that was further compressing the images. Apologies to Usefilm!

Hi Roger,
I just asked my son which shrine it was that he went to. It turns out it was one in Shinjuku.
I suppose expecting it to be the same one was a bit like saying that church in Rome looks just like the one we were at last year. :)
Or, Hey, that Burger King looks just like the one I was at. :)
I have no idea if they have changed anything with the jpeg compression. I used to have a lot of trouble with that in the past. I have been doing any of my post processing in the file size that I took the image in and then doing a re-size for web in Photo Shop 7, sizing the widest dimension to 850. That always seems to work pretty well for me.

Hi, Andre. Well, there are plenty to choose from and they share a lot of similarities. [grin] I notice a strange mottling or banding in the stones of the paving and walls that isn't there on the originals uploaded to Usefilm. Do you know if they are applying extra JPEG compression?

Hi Roger
This looks so much like some photos my Son was showing us of a Shrine/Temple just outside of Tokyo. I will have to ask him if this is the same place he visited.
Andre
