About I saw this jogger silhouetted against the pre-dawn sky and had just barely enough film/lens sensitivity to pull off this shot. It's very frustrating to have an 800-pixel limit on image width when shooting panorama format... I sometimes wonder whether it's worth uploading them. What do you think?

This is definately worth an upload. It is very pretty. The silhouette of the jogger heading off into the distance makes a great picture. The panoramic format really shows the countryside and the variation of colours is lovely. I haven't done panoramics, so can't comment on the size limit. However, this looks good to me. I hope you find out what is causing trhe smudge. I really like that you included the fence in this. It seems to be pointing to the way for the jogger and adds a good element to this. Would you consider cropping it a bit or moving to the left a bit so the piece of building on the right does not show? IMHO, it might look better without it. It is a gorgoeus shot.

Roger. The 800 pixel restriction ( even in panorama), still gives enough, for a flavour of the original - just enough to comment.

This is a fine, no frills film image, with a good sense of a modern, (Japanese) dawn scene.

Regards
Colin

Hi, Thilo. May I diffidently suggest you visit my latest panorama, a 360-degree effort stitched from four circular fisheye shots takenn at right angles? Would be interested to hear your opinion. I have also noted your name as someone likely to want to participate in an experimental group that Al Shaikh said he might form for panorama lovers after the upgrade.

I like this Roger. Definitely worth the upload in my opinion. You've got a lot of interest going on here...hills and road and rails. Nice!

Hi Roger,

I know your dilemma very well. My panos don't work very well in 800 pixels, so I keep most of the on the hard drive. this one shines because of the color, although the noise is a bit heavy overall. Great to have that single person.

best wishes,
Thilo

Chris, this mark appears on several photos in the same cassette but not in similar photos from different cassettes before or after that one. So I think it may be an artifact of the scanning process (I have them all scanned at the local Fuji shop)...

Well, Leora, that must be one of the nicest comments I've ever had! Thank you. I'm so glad you enjoy my photos. I certainly enjoy taking them... If you would like to see some of my panoramas with higher resolution (more pixels) many of the earlier ones are in the "rogerama" folder at www . fujirangefinder . com. Click on any image and you'll get to see it 1200 pixels wide! Quite a big difference...

I have to be honest, Roger, I DID notice the mark on the other shot you mentioned. Just thought it might be a one-off dust spot. I hope you discover what it is.
Best regards, Chris

Thanks, Chris. I noticed the smudge and wondered about it. There's a disturbingly similar mark on the recent "reflections" shot (lower RH side on that vertical photo). Do you think it's the same? The lens is brand new and externally unmarked. I'll watch out for this...

I feel terrible, I almost lost you. I wanted to comment on your self-portrait - genius - love the humor and situation - and I wanted to comment on your panoramas and see more - so what if they are only 800 pixels - please share. This one is amazing.

And I somehow navigated out of your portfolio and could not find the trail back and could not remember your name and then I found a comment on this photo and I am back. Eureka!

Read my lips. VERRRRRY WORTHWHILE TO POST PHOTOS, EVEN IF ONLY 800 PIXELS! I am putting this in my favorites, so I cannot lose you again.

Cheers, Leora

It's a beautiful panorama, Roger.
I agree that the 800 px limit is a little on the small side for panoramas and would, myself, be happier with a kb limit.
There looks like a bit of a smudge on the sky in this shot. Was that how it was, or do you have a mark on the lens? (It's just right of centre, just above the horizon.)
Best regards, as ever, Chris
