About A self-preening Cockatoo in a feathery explosion of beauty. The Pomona Bird Mart! The egg project mentions creative and new ways to present the egg. I believe THIS is a first . . . imagine this is just like a really, really OLD egg! Ok . . . THAT'S different. A grown up egg . . . and a good egg to boot.

BWA HAHAHAHAA! Oh Onie! My you have a PUNny sense of humor. Uhhhhhh . . . and my, that's more birds than I have to deal with (and that's saying something)!

The recipe is hilarious . . . and it sounds quite tasty! :P

Now you live next to Murray River, a park AND an irrigation canal? Uh huh. Separated only by a field of sunflowers and corn, no doubt! LoL! Well . . . I guess I know WHY they're there . . . and can only say . . . uhhhhhhh . . . well . . . I guess you're not going to buy a pet bird anytime soon, huh? You know that the Cockatoos are afraid of birds of prey I trust. A kite, for example, roosting on your roof might help. Here, we place plastic (but realistic) owls up to keep birds away. Perhaps that might help? Oh, and some good earplugs . . . thank goodness they're seasonal foragers.

Funny how a nuisance in one place is a rarity in another. Australia won't allow the export of these birds so virtually all of ours in this country are bred in captivity. . . . and, though they're NOT supposed to . . . I know the tourists can't resist feeding these guys! ;)

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Oh, and by the way - why would I delete that? . . . you can feel free to comment any time . . . I don't mind. :)

~~GRIN~~ Doyle... all up really *old eggs* are not all they're cracked up to be... These noisy, screeching, destructive, comical *eggs* wake us every morning here on the Murray River and continue to up the decibel levels whenever they take flight... They and their mates the corellas and galahs, many dozens of *egg cartons* full... They dig up the ground and embankments, chew the new shoots and ring bark branches, munch away on the fascia and timber trims of homes... Undo the nuts on light fittings, chew the antenna wiring (on our third aerial) and the rivets in the colourbond roofing... So, you could say that sometimes we are not *eggs*-actly fond of shelling out for replacements... :)

An old bush saying was during the depression years, when food was short... they would catch cockatoos... A large pan filled with water, add a smooth river rock, onion and potato if available but not necessary... Then add the bird, simmer for six hours... When done, throw away the cocky and serve the rock... ~~GRIN~~...

They make great pets, terrific mimics and talkers... Live for years as in many decades in captivity, sometimes handed to the next generation... :)

Would not normally do this but adding a couple of shots, hope OK Doyle, to give an idea... If this is not OK please fell free to delete...:)

Onie...

Fabulous stuff Doyle and your humour always cheers me up if I'm down. A most impressive list of goodies for your birthday my friend......The only thing left on my own personal list is a long lens (my 100 macro is my longest these days) which I have resisted due to weight. Canon do a beauty which is not too heavy for my arthritic hands but it is well over £1000 (around $2000). Heather loves me dearly but I think I'm on my own in this instance. Take care of you my friend, a big hug for Marlyce....'see' you again soon....Ray

I get your drift Doyle....a grown up egg with legs, well, why not....you'll get no arguement from me my good friend. This is a lovely 'feathery explosion' and I certainly cannot think of better way of describing it Doyle, your own words are so apt. Great details and subtle tones in this beautifully composed feathery floral study..Well done to you my friend. All the best.....Ray:)

Room for one more egg connotation? The c o l o u r s of an egg ie white and yellow, are excellently (i'll resist with the "egg" as a 'surrogate' prefix...) captured and therefore could, by a stretch, be included in the egg project...
Great shot :)

Oh J-E:

What frame issue? I assume each mention of a negative thing represents four people who think it but don't mention it. A frame is a frame is a frame . . . and presentation is fair game for critiques. Besides . . . I assume there's nothing in the image to critique . . . therefore . . . uhhhhh . . . Yeah! The frame! (Done that myself!) I would rather have YOUR honest opinion about anything in the shot - the frame - the presentation - anything at all . . . than the "nice shot. good comp. 7/7" comment copied and pasted from image to image. You give my shots your personal time and individual attention and I find that very valuable. Never fear being honest. (And I very seldom get mad - even if I probably should.)

:)

Dear Michele. Dear, dear Michele . . . ( shakes head slowly ).

First - it is NOT prejudiced to find my work to be good (or even inspired). . . it is a sign of high intelligence that others need to aspire too! LoL!

Honestly though, it's very nice to get support from you for my shots. It gives me a great idea on what my peers think . . . a typical American who knows what they do and do not like . . . not so much concerned with what others tell us we're supposed to like or dislike. Besides - it keeps me humble! Hehehehee! :)

Thanks AJ:
I noticed the rating demon hit right before Steve W commented . . . and I know all the people on the list above him as good people . . . so either a mistake . . . or somebody hates the shot . . . perhaps computer glitch?? LoL! No worries mate! The idea was to allow anonymous input so I could get an idea without friends hurting my feelings . . . and it does seem to work for that. I've considered removing them from time to time . . . but just enjoy the little extra anonymous feedback I get. I gotta give it to you for the funny button comment though . . . that's a new one on me and brought a quick smile . . . You're a good egg John! (Sorry . . . couldn't resist!)

Highly original and definitely more egg-shaped than bird-shaped. But someone seems to have been joking around with the ratings - every comment enthusiastic, then bam!, someone hits the funny button.
