About	Another iris taken with my standard 58mm lens at its closest focusing distance. I used Gaussian blur on the background, which has some rather ugly grain (serves me right for using 800 ISO film), but that funny frill around the petals is not an artifact of anything, it was there on the flower. This reminds me of Japanese sashimi!

The blur has certainly helped reduce the effects of the grain. Nicely done.

Don't get hung up on grain, its effective here, and isolates the subject. Nice one!!

Thanks Ellen. Actually, though, this is the one with the background grain removed (well, as much as I could). So you probably can't imagine what it was like before... I expect the scan from film was partly to blame. That can exaggerate grain if you're not careful.

What a beautiful flower, I've never seen this one it has a great shape. Personaly I like the grainy background.
