Boy, there sure is a lot jammed into these. I wonder how the designers thought that people would take the time to actually read them. One's eye does not know where to concentrate. Neat colors, though. As far as your stopping to take the picture, I figure there are a lot of times that others have wondered why photographers do what they do to take pictures. Mary

Roger, I got your email regarding my request for your views on the photograph. Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I've been doing consultations with fellow pastors and that has bee non-stop. Your comments are very helpful and right on the mark. I took some photographs Saturday on a cloudy day to get feel for the elements without strong light. The light is essential and waiting for it to shine on the trees will help. Also, choosing an f-stop that lets the trees and cliff be in focus will improve it, too. I also realize that haze is an issue and I'm going to double check my filter for its effectiveness. I know that I have too much in the photo, and this is a constant issue for my photography. I used a smaller telephoto and then began cropping. . . and that's where I am with it. I'll look at it again later to see if I'm capturing the essence of what is drawing me to this view. The jazz photo is one I took at my son's concert. This is the band that played before his and the tuba player was doing his improv. He was having some fun with it and the other players 'got it.' It was a neat moment that I was fortunate to be able to click at the righ time. I'm on my way to speak to some youth ministers so I've got to go for now but I hope to get back to you, and others, and post some comments. Again, thank you for helping me. Rodney

Rodney, can I trouble you to post a reply to this E-mail (you can also tell me if my suggestions on your "problem" picture were helpful) as I have been having trouble signing on and want to check that comments are being E-mailed to me at my proper address... Thanks!

Hi roger, I agree with Thilo, creative use of the pano tool to show these kinds of adds. Good details, and an interesting shot, something we don't get to see too often in Europe...:)
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Roger,
great idea to show these kind of ads in the panoramic format... I didn't have the time to prepare some panoramics until now ;-)
This is a showcase of a very different world.
best wishes, Thilo

It's hard to believe you are getting this quality with your cell phone Roger. That stuff is getting better and better. This is an interesting shot. Kind of funny that it's so busy no one even notices it. Advertising boggles my mind! Thanks for sharing. Susie

One has to wonder if these advertisements came about because of portal websites, or if portal websites are designed to mimic these advertisements... At the end of the day, is anyone really looking at either...?
But hey, you might have stumbled on what I think could be the start of a growing trend. There are websites/blogs out there solely dedicated to posting images of bizarre shop window ads from Japan! Some of them are outrageous but most are very very funny :)
Keep'em coming! Rina

This image makes me dizzy, no wonder no body looks at the adds....you might think it would be to their advantage to learn what attracts the eye easily as this seems to be counter productive add wise.
AS to your photo I think it is such a cool statement demonstrating the overwhelming need to gain attention in our society these days using what ever means to attempt this. I don't think I could live in the city because of this ...I think it would drive me nuts!
