About This restaurant is the original home of "electric brandy," an ersatz brandy-like drink that was concocted in the era of shortages after Japan's defeat. I had one. It really does taste rather like brandy...

Great picture Roger. I think is works equally well in B&W and colour. The two strong verticals keep the eye from wandering out of the frame. I like the triangle created by the Bar Tender, the girl in the white blouse top right and the guy with the bag strap over his shoulder in the lower left. Thanks for posting. Regards John

Roger, as well as the people this his a strong shor for the angle you've achieved (something strong about the corner of that table ). It actually stands quite nicely in colour too.

Brilliant picture. Really captures the scene - can almost smell the alcohol and food.

Ah, do you mean stereotypical views of Japan that people have in the Middle East? We in Japan think of ourselves as the Far East. Coming here certainly removed some of my own preconceptions. For instance, that they are a poker-faced and unemotional people. Absolute nonsense! They also have a great sense of humour, believe it or not!

Thanks, Bard. It's nice getting on the front page because people like yourself get a look at something they might never otherwise see. I'm at work now, but will visit your portfolio later, probably during the lunch hour...

Nice view into the culture... helps take away some of the stereotypical views people have of the middle east

Really interesting shot, Roger. Wonderful tones, and I like the wide angle. Oddly, it could pass for an American establishment quite easily...kind of an "art decco" 60's look to it. I looked over your portfolio, and find it to be nicely varied, and quite impressive. ..Brad

Yes, George. I colour corrected for the tungsten, but still didn't like the result. B&W does away with all that... [g]

Another interesting insight into Japanese life and culture, Roger. Good control of exposure and use of B&W.
Kind regards, Chris

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique You're really getting good at these kind of shots now. As I look at this photo, I can see at least four different sections that could be cropped for individual scenes. This apperars to be another advantage of going with wide angle lenes. Is there any reason why you posted this as B&W? Maybe too much tungsten influence from the lights?

Like the way no-one noticed the shot, thus being unnatural. Great title, well exposed, good work.

One of those Russian turret finders with 28, 35, 50, 85 and 135mm frames is the best bargain going. Get the one that shows you the image just outside the frame, too. Beats the Zeiss version! Changing (not to mention purchasing) finders is the least fun thing about the Bessa T.

A great interior shot, I assume hand held and maybe braced. The verticals are straight, there are lots of good middle tones and a whole lot happening. I am busy finding old bargain lenses and components to integrate into the Bessa T outfit. No hurry. Should be fun.
