We caught the skirts of two typhoons here in the Rokyo area--heavy rains, mostly. Some disruption of public transport. The earthquake is quite horrific, though. Far enough away that we only suffered gentle swaying, but the folks over the epicentre, wow! It was only because it occurred in sparsely populated countryside that there wasn't vastly greater loss of life. Thanks for your concern... My highschool age twins are going off as volunteers to help with the clearing up, as soon as the roads and/or rail links are open again.

More to the point, Bertram, is how it would look with the Heliar 50/3.5! The 75mm would have been unusable due to the small room. But having become pretty sick of carting the heavy Voyageur around--with tripod--I am enjoying the use of my pocketable phone for photos! Maybe eventually I will go for one of those calling-card sized slim digital cameras and save my Bessas for "best."

Again a really good portrait and a stunning result with the phone, but I ask myself how nice would it be with a CV 75mm ?? :-))

Well ACTUALLY, Chris, it does have a kind of flash! There's a light that you can switch on (runs the batteries down pretty quickly, though) that gives you enough light to SEE the subject in a darkened room, and then flashes a brighter beam at the instant you press the button. Sort of "Lead, kindly light..." if you know what I mean. I like the way people are disarmed by the idea of using a PHONE to take a PICTURE! Produces some nice relaxed smiles. May be my way into getting some portraits?

Now you're not going to tell me that your phone has got a flash gun built in, are you Roger?! ;-) Pretty good shot in the circumstances. There's a bit of detail left in the dog's white fur and, considering the resolution (and the 'camera') it's still pretty Sharp. Pardon me! Best regards, Chris
