Hi Fabio, thanks for your comment and compliment! This photo was rather a fluke. I was entering the London tube when this guy left, keeping the camera along side my body at hip hight, and pressed the button...:)

Cheers,

Hugo

Thank you for the comment on my "A strange animal".
I've gone through some images of your impressive and outstandig portfolio and found this one to have the same source of inspiration of mine ( and most probably executed the same way - mine was done with the camera placed over a brief case with a two second timer set).
Best regards,
Fabio

Hi David, this was more of a lucky shot; I saw this guy exiting the London tube when I was about to enter, and snapped one from the hip; I like these grabshots too; a series of three of these was recently awarded; quite cool!

Cheers,

Hugo

These slow speed photos always remind me of time, as if I didn't have enough reminders anyway. Photography can use time in a way similar to music, with sequences. Or simply the act of preserving the images of long ago. Or, in this case by reminding us that matter moves through space in time.

This has all the visual cues of modern people in a hurry . . . blurred trajectory and briefcase.

I don't know what time is.

I do know I like this picture.

ok. here it is again. sorry if it repeats.

hugo, excellent!! this style interests me very much. i've been studying motion sporadically over time. i have not sat down and planned a "proper" excercise, but i should. is there camera and/or zoom movement here in addition to the subjects motion?

along these lines; did you get a chance to look at Paul Henri Cahier's work? his F1 shots tend to incorporate this effect. very cool stuff. for a nice shot of kimi check out www.f1-photo.com and search for Raikkonen_2002_Australia_01_PHC.jpg. last night i was trying to send this comment with a complex URL so you wouldn't have to search on the site but it was not getting through. this is just one of hundreds of photos in this style. you will see others just browsing around the site.

take care,
tom

Nice shot Hugo, it's kind of like what i tried to capture "By Train to Geneva". You have done this very well. I personally like the framing and wouldn't crop it square like Mary says. That's what makes this interesting we all have different ideas, don't we. Thanks for your comment. Regards Neil

Hugo,

An interesting combination of clarity and blur - the vivid colors really add to the feel and motion of the image - I wonder if the movement would be even more immediate if cropped square?

Excellent motion blur effects to accentuate the rush. I particularly like the hand and its significative movement. I bet that if it could talk, we would hear it say "GET OFF OF MY WAY!"
Great capture, Hugo!

De sterke beweging maakt het bijna een abstracte vorm-foto.. Het geeft in ieder geval wel heel sterk de illusie van beweging, haast.. Kortom, Goed gedaan!
