Thanks Ray,
I'll be sticking to wildlife for a little while, now that I got this lens. Yeah, as I mentioned to Allen, they light in the eye with birds always seems to "make" the shot.

Thanks Allen,
I think I picked up that from Yamil and Marcus. I'm learning if you don't have the eye contact and the light in the eye on bird shots, you might as well just delete it right away.

Just catching up following a holiday and I can see that you have been quite active. This is another wonderful wildlife shot my dear Andre. The details in the plumage are great and I love the little catchlight in the eye. Well done to you my friend, keep them coming. All the best........Ray

Super wildlife capture. I like to light in the eye.

Thanks for the link Marcio,
I am currently using a 133X card, but I will make sure my next CF is 300x. even if I don't shoot in RAW, it can only be better.
I got your settings charts.
Thanks again,
Andre

Hi Andre,
Not very often use multiple shots, no more than 3 consecutive.
What I would tell you is that I use the card with 300x speed recorder and they write very quickly .
Many people use shooting Raw in spots where the picture does not need to be processed and sent to the newspaper so quickly for example.
This link may help to tell more
http://www.lexar.com/dp/tips_lessons/jc_sportsphotog20608.html
I will send the settings that I have used.
Something might be useful to you, hugs

Thanks Marcio,
Do you know if the D200 saves files just as fast in RAW when shooting in the multiple frames mode?
I guess it must, or pros wouldn't be able to use RAW for sports and wildlife.
If you don't mind, you can send the settings tables to adenis1234@rogers.com.
No hurry.
Thanks
Andre

Thanks Allen,
I'm glad you like it. I got a few nice ones of this guy. The tilt of the head and open beak made this one the sure bet to post.

Hi Marcio,
Maybe one day I will get around to shooting and saving RAW files. But currently, I'm not concerned.
When I first got my D200, I read this article and I suppose it influenced me to just keep shooting in JPG for now.

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/raw.htm

I do keep the original large JPG files for manipulation in Photoshop 7.

You will get there ..:)
I only can not even understand how you are not shooting these photos in RAW , it has documentary value.

Thanks Yamil,
I'm glad you like it. I have seen a couple around here this year. I was able to get a nice distance from this one because I think it had a nest in the area and didn't want to leave. It changed it's perch several times, but never flew far away. It must have known I couldn't get closer because I was on a kind of suspended walkway about three quarters up the trees.
I'll post a few more soon.
Thanks again.

Thanks Marcio,
I'm getting used to the new lens. When I first got it, I thought every image must surely come out perfect. Not so, There is still a bit of learning curve before I reduced my mistakes.

Thanks Brigitte,
I had several others of this bird, but the angle that his head was turned along with the partially open beak is what won me over on this one.

Hi Dave,
Yes, for the most part, I am very pleased with the results. Of course there is always a percentage of throw-away shots. But, when they come out right...Wow!

That combination is great for getting these bird shots, Andre! I like your composition with the bird among the leaves, and the great feather detail.
Dave.

Thanks Mitra,
Yes they really do make a soft meowing sound. Almost like a cat that wants to come back indoors.
