Hi Ray,
A few others have commented on that building at the right. (boathouse)
Personally, I kind of liked it there because I thought the image might be too symmetrical if I took it out. It seems I might be out numbered :)
But I'm stubborn, so I'm leaving it in :)

I took another look at this shot Andre..It is a very atmospheric and moody composition. I am trying to imagine it without the building on the right hand side and just utilising the two trees and your wife. It is good Andre, very good but the other umbrella shot is magical. Have a great week-end, take care....Ray

You're right Andre, it wasn't far from us here in Lafayette. The winds were pretty rough Friday night but we got very little damage here. But south of us (and not very far) really got hammered! The tidal surge caught a lot of our neighbors to the south. It is so very sad and I hope that the hurricanes are done! Darlene

Thanks Stefan,
I debated with myself on weather to leave that roof section in or not. I decided to leave it in because I thought the image might look too plain without it. I'm wondering now if maybe more of the roof and structure (boathouse) might have been better than just that little bit?
In any case, I'm pretty happy with it the way it is.

This is a lovely photo with good attention to the few details that you present. I do think that the corrugated roof in the upper right corner is a distraction but that would fall in the "nit" category.

Hi Darlene,
I was just watching a newscast on Rita's destructive path. They seem to be downplaying the destruction, (compared to Katrina) But the images still look pretty frightening to me. It wasn't that far from Lafayette this time was it?
Hopefully this will be the last big one for a while. The rebuilding and clean-up is going to be so lengthy and costly.

Wonderful image and dedication Andre.....we're counting our blessing also here in Lafayette but praying for our neighbors to the south, they were not so lucky.

Thanks Fadel,
It was raining, just before dark, so I thought I would try some slow shutter speeds with the tripod. One thing I forgot to do on this shot was to take the iso off auto. (probably went to 800) Since I had the tripod I could have set the iso number much lower and increased the shutter speed to get rid of some of the noise. Next time :)

It doesn't come off too dark to me. It's just right IMHO.

Thanks Toni,
My concern was that the image might be a little too heavy and depressing looking. I was attempting to show someone reflecting on a grave situation. And it is a little difficult to do that without getting a little dark.

Thank you Karina,

I was trying to create the effect of a kind of heavy mood, where the subject looked as though they were reflecting on something worry-some.

:) Really beautiful silhouette. I love the rain (not hurricanes). Lovely dedication, and thank you for the addition to our Quilts for Katrina! Antonia
