About I was originally trying to get some shots of the perfectly straight rows of Pine trees in this grove. Then I realized there was this little "Charlie Brown Christmas" tree peeking out from behind one of the large pines.

Yeah, the tan and green work well together.

You could have titled it "unauthorized" to emphasize the tree farmness of it all.

Hi James,
I see what you mean. That crop would work also.
However, what I would have really wanted is for the small tree to be in the foreground where the sandy coloured forest floor is. I think that might have worked well too.

I wonder if you might prefer to lose the bottom, maybe crop off just below the base of that closest tree.

Thanks Tap,
That is quite a compliment, to be compared with him. I did try a B&W conversion. However, it didn't work very well in this case. As I mentioned to someone else, if the small green tree had the forest floor for the background, the B&W conversion would probably work better.

Thanks Marcus,
Actually, the large ones are all arranged in rows. I guess that's the way they re-plant them when seeding a forest. I suppose the large trees are about 30 or 40 years old. I'm not sure why they had to be planted here. I don't think it was a re-plant because of a fire.
I appreciate the nice comment. Coming from someone as skilled as you means a lot.

Hi Biljana,
Thanks for the nice comment.
The phrase "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" is a reference to a very popular family tv show that was on tv here in North America about 30 years ago, or more. If you search the web under "Peanuts" "Charlie Brown Christmas" you will find it no problem at all. They replay it every year a couple of weeks before Christmas. It is just a charming kid's story about some kids that went looking for a Christmas tree too late after all the "good" big trees were taken. They found a small beat up tree that nobody else wanted and decorated it, giving the tree some purpose and a new life. Something like that :)

what do you mean charlie brown tree, that is like the tree we have here every year :) very nice scene as always andre, the trees are so nicely textured and almost orginized, the slight light showing at the end of the frame is nice, really well done. you stop posting for a couple of months and you miss soo many nice photos...
Marcus.

Thanks Nick,
It was a very photogenic area. I liked the details too, but would have preferred a different time of day for long shadows.

This is absolutely freaky Andrzej!!!
Not only do we have the same name, and travel the same areas, but we even take the same pictures!!!

We did notice that there seemed to be a lot of small spruces planted among the pines, so this might not be exactly the same tree. You have the log in this one that I doubt would have moved. But the resemblence in the image is uncanny.

We were just trying a different scenic route in to the cottage when this little forest stood out to me. Now I see you felt the same way. It was a very photgenic area.

Great minds think alike I guess :)

Hi Kes, I agree.
I showed the two of them to my wife to see which she liked best. She liked this one best. But also said said that the version I attached here might convey the concept of "big and little" a bit better due to the size and number of the other trees. But, on the other hand, the small tree sort of blends into the background a bit too much. It's a tough decision, because the overpowering effect is kind of one of the points of the image.

Anyway, I never had that problem with the birdman images. :)

Excellently colored and detailes, Andre! Even the slight overexposure on the yellow/brown bottom part adds that kind of bright look of a very sunny day, still allowing the general mood to be rather autumnal.

I would go as far to say that this would be perfect for a prospect of the area.

Andre, yes I know Burnt Bridge Road and got a couple pictures shoot there as well and here is the forest. Would it be the same little "Charlie Brown Christmas" tree but a year earlier.
The one here was shoot from the road as well:

Yes Alicia,
I didn't think about that so much. But now that you mention it, the rows of the trees combined with the perspective are like an open door to the forest.

Hi Andrzej,
This one was in fact taken on a narrow dirt road in the middle of the Madawaska Valley. We were looking for a different way in to our cottage and were following roads off hwy 28 North of Bancroft. This was on Burnt Bridge Road, near the York River. Maybe 15K from our cottage.
(looking for more old cars or trucks :)

Andre, I'm always amazed in structural beauty of this regrown forests. I got a couple of similar ones from the Madawaska Valley area but had no time yet to develop them for presentation. The fact is that I have more and more of them every year - means it appeals well to me. Maybe one day, maybe soon it will burst into a show somewhere. Great view, nice colors and interesting link to the story. Cheers, NJ

Thanks Dave,
I would have preferred if the small green tree had the forest floor for a back drop. But, to tell you the truth, I wasn't even thinking of that little tree when I took the image. It was only after downloading that I realized I had one for the "Big Little" project.

Well seen and captured, Andre! I like the contrast between the bright greens and grey/brown of the larger trees.
