You put your finger on this lens's weakness. It has pretty strong barrel distortion. John Robertson says it's because it's an elderly retrofocus design. I'll probably go back to the 21mm and 35mm CV lenses (on L and R bodies) and keep the Bessaflex for fisheyes or macros. But it will be a nice lens to take with the Bessaflex if I can only take the ONE camera. I used not to like 28mm but I think I could get used to it... It's a LOT easier to use than the 21mm.

Great urban view, tho not so perfectly free of distortion as the CV lenses are this lens is doing a very fine work in your hands.

It would be possible to close out the billboards I suppose, John, but I like to leave the "warts" in my photos... They'll all a part of how it actually was.

I like this a lot, lovely shot. Would it be possible to "clone "out these ****** billboards!

John, next time I'm there I'll read the message on the plinth. There was a VERY amorous couple on the bench underneath it, so I couldn't get a good look at it. I'd guess the statue dates from before the modernization of the town...

Is there a story behind this? Strange mix of statue pedestal style and the buildings behind. - JB
