About	These feathery leaves were taken at the minimum focus distance of my 40mm lens, which happens to be 40mm! This is trimmed from a very small area of the original negative, so I am quite pleased with the resolution. Not so keen on the out-of-focus areas, though.

Very well done! This is a very difficult subject, but you did a wonderful job with the dof and the composition. The dark background is just right. Unlike John, I think the green plants framing the center give a nice sense of the natural place. An all black ground might make it look like a studio shot. (OK, that might be a fine thing as well ;-)

Yes, John. I wondered about deleting the greenery (leeks) in the background, but I've never done that kind of thing and didn't want to start. Unfortunately there was no angle that would give me a natural dark background...

Yes, the in-focus part is most pleasing. I would perhaps prefer to see it against a totally black background.
