About This is the second posting of this image ... I really appreciate all the suggestions ... I agree.
I do not wish to remove or soften the orange "ball", however, because it is pollen that has built up on the bee ( I think ... at any rate it is part of the bee and that adds interest ).

You are absolutely right about the pollen Richard. It belongs there and must not be soften. The big problem with this wonderful lighted beautiful colorful macro shot is the fact that there is'nt enough depth of field in the image, but focus is only at the eye and pollen and therefore the bright yellow spot seems to distract a bit so if there would have been more DOF attention would go more to the wonderful details in the body and wings of the bee also....Best regards Harry

This is a great macro shot, really. But I think that wonderful Nikkor 105 is capable of much more. You could try to stop down and to use an external flash for compensating the loss of light. This way you could get more DOF, something very critical in such a shot.

Great I also missed it the first time around & I've also been waiting patiently for a bee to come along with the pollen ball. The closest that I got was a bee & no pollen.Congratulations

I like this very much. Well done. After studying it I'm only wishing the eye was sharper, but at that magnification... bee's are next to impossible to capture. Its an amazing image. Thanks!

Boy is this ever a great photo. All those colors just complimenting each other! Wish I took this!!

When it's photos like these, I find it hard to pick what I want to be in focus.

Artie Colantuono,
thanks again for your initial comment that made me reproces this image with different cropings. I'm much happier with the photograph. What an awesome web site that can add to ones abilities.

Gary,
Thanks for agreeing with me about not softing that "ball", actually Artie now agrees since he's seen the final results of the second post.

All in all I'm having a lot of fun for a side hobby ...
