I guess the answer to that question would be that I used the self-timer and wasn't looking thru the lens when photo was taken. I took more but this is the one I liked the best when I started to use the effects.

Photoshop's Chalks and Charcoal, and ACDSee's Sepia are the two filters. However, the combination of contrast increase, levels, USM, and the order in which they were applied are the result of just playing around.
