No problem, Mark. I think manipulations are more likely to look good when there are no people in the scene. Portraits may be the most difficult.

Roger--you're right. I apologize for being cryptic. I think I was having a conversation with myself. Maybe I'm trying to justify the severe manipulations I sometimes do on my shots. I did play around with this shot--and found it difficult to improve upon.

Mark, this looks like a continuation of a conversation but I seem to have missed the first part. I don't know what "case" it is a "point" of. And I don't understand what you mean by "cut out that white stripe and spin the dials." Just in case you mean change the white to some other colour, I don't feel free to change large areas of my photos--it's all part of my feeling that I want to be a recorder of things as they really were. It may not be possible, because there's SOMETHING subjective in everything we do, including even selecting the angle to shoot from. But it's an ideal I try to work towards, not away from. But anyway, I don't understand what you're getting at, so I'd better be careful what I argue against. You might not mean anything of the kind! Perhaps you'd be kind enough to explain? I AM interested... Oh, and I'm really pleased you decided to make me one of your Usefilm "friends." I hope it means I'll be hearing more from you...

you see Roger, this shot is a case in point. cut out that white stripe, and then spin the dials, or slide those bars, and watch those colors just fly out. (by "cut out" I mean separate the white from the rest before you do the manipulation, because it will get too blown out otherwise). do it for me, please. [of course, you may ignore me too, i shan't be offended.]

Thank you, Chris. The costumes were the best part of the performance, which at the musical level was at the modest amateur level.

Beautiful costumes and I'm sure the music was lovely, too. Best regards, Chris
