About I'm really pleased with the way this little "tree hugger" image came out. The chimney was taken today on the shores of Lake Ontario, east of Toronto. The skeleton is that of a gibbon on display that I took last Sunday at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Work done in Photoshop.

Thanks for visiting and commenting M G,
I had a lot of fun doing this one and the others in the series. Those skeleton images will come in handy for some other images around Halloween.

Thanks Randy,

I was lucky it was raining in Boston last week. The rain made me visit the museum instead of walking outside. So, I ended up getting a few shots to use in this sort of image. Now I'm having fun with them.

I really like your work in creation of this unique image, makes a good statement, cliche or not. I do also like the chimney shot on it's own.

Hi Grant,
Yeah. Sometimes you just don't feel like posting pictures of cute squirrels and chickadees. :) I like the variety.

Hi Stefan,

You weren't the only one to mention that the chimney stands well on it's own. It does leave a lot of blank sky behind, but I see what you mean. I think the focus has a lot to do with the mystery of the chimney as well. I'll attach it to this comment. The quality is not so good, as it is only a small file size, but you will get the idea.

Good stuff. I too like the chimney shot on its own - the foreground in particular goes perfectly with the already darkish mood.

Thanks for visiting and commenting Arwa. Not everything that I do is this depressing. Just once in a while, a dark side comes out.

Thanks Thilo,
It might be a little cliche, but as soon as I saw the little gibbon skeleton on display, I knew it would fit somewhere like this. I went looking for a large smoking chimney with lots of billowing smoke, but this one, blowing just a little smoke was the worst I could come up with :) Somehow, even that little bit of smoke has an eerie effect. So, I'm pleased with the results.

Hi Toni,
Thanks for the comment. I hope you didn't get all the same shots I did. The museums are great places to get things like this. Where else could you? I haven't actually skinned any monkeys lately:)

Thanks Fadel,
I have a feeling some more creepy stuff is coming from me ;) That shot of the Gibbon bones wasn't the only one that I took last week. So, more to come!

Thanks Jon,
It might be okay without the bones. But those bones just fit in there so nicely, I couldn't help it.

What a hoot Andre! It is just fantastic the way you put him up there on the chimney. It is fantastical actually. Good combo of tones and the tall weeds make it compositionally speaking. You've inspired me to try something entertaining with the skeletons I captured at the Natural History Museum. Bravo! Antonia

Very nicely put together. I would venture to say that the chimney photo could stand as a powerful image on its own.

Cheers,

Jon
