Stefan, sorry, i should have explained. In this case, i had about 15 minutes of some clarity before it began to rain again. Kind of tough find your subject and shoot in 15 minutes. Winter is challenging here because it rains for 6-7 months..at least a good part of every day. Not easy! If it isn't raining, light is usually low and flat. Good for color saturation but tough to get nice sharpness and very easy to get blur. Summer sun is high and contrasty and that's a real challenge too. We don't get long protracted sunsets or sunrises because we're too close to the equator. 30 mintues tops is all you get of that lovely light. Neither do we have those nice long rays of light that come with your winter.

Can you explain why you say that light was far from ideal? Does this look flat or unbalanced to you? Not me.

welcome back, Stefan. you were missed! Thanks for your comments..light is pretty much what you make it i suppose. This was shot during a break in the weather after 8 days of solid rain. The light was far from ideal. i had about 15 minutes to grab what i could before it began raining again. kat~

This is really intense. I am not usually a fan of flowers (altough I shoot a fair number myself) because they so often fail to translate into human expression. Not so here. Lighting is perfect too. I guess you live in a good place for finding this kind of treasure...
