It's been a while since I tried to shoot action. I'd forgotten how difficult it is to focus quickly to get a half decent shot, never mind all the other things to consider. I took about a 100 shots to get maybe 10 so-so and about 4 okay pics. Give me some feedback please. Any helpful hints on quick focusing would be appreciated. My partner was Canadian Saddle Bronc champ in 1994; I'd like to do him proud when I take shots of his favourite sport!
Other than what Artie said and what you did, 100 shots, (haha) that's funny. I know the feeling. Have you had your camera very long? Does it have so many features you forget what you're doing when the action starts? Another thing, M.A. Mora mentioned, get to know the feel and workings (not his exact words, but..) of your camera. I'm trying really hard to know mine and each time I hold it and start taking pictures, I try to remember what each button does without having to look for it. Anyway, you did a fantastic job here what with all the action, the framing is great! I was also going to ask again if you remember the ap..and shutter speed?
well done dawn...framed well and you got the action... the only thing you can do is anticipate where the action is going to happen and try to get there before the scene does and be prefocused at a distance and make only minor adjustments......
