About This is a favorite image of mine. I'm fond of the negative space and the alternate perspective of a familiar subject. I was also pleased to get the beams of light clearly visible with the wind swept sky as a backdrop. More of my work can be seen at http://www.artbeacon.com/jmg-galleries Thanks for your time and comments.

I agree. The use of minimalism is splendid. I like pictures with great use of negative space.

But one more thing that caught my eye is the fantastic contrast created by the red tower against the blue-black backdrop.

My sincere compliments, Jim.

Jim, this is absolutely stunning! I am awed, a great presentation. The angle and light beams impart motion, this should be an award winner!

RAY... this is indeed Pigeon Pt. Lighthouse. We were there at the same time. I missed going last year, but plan on returning this year. Meeting would be great! LESLIE... I think the exposure was somewhere around 6 or 8 seconds, but it's been a while. This image was inspiration for the artbeacon.com logo. THANKS to everyone for your kind comments.

I can certainly see why this beauty is a favorite...a fantastic perspective agains the natural gradient sky makes a wonderful and dramatic composition...I would be curious about how long your exposure was...the rays of light from lthe lighthouse are just perfect...a good ad for www.artbeacon.com ... :)

Jim,
looks like Pigeon Pt. Lighthouse to me.
The old fresnel lens is lit, so it must have been taken the same night I was there in Nov, 2002, Next time they do it, we will have to meet there. Most of the images I got that night were from further around to the left side.
Excellent image, like the angle you got it from, kind of different from the normal LH photo.
Good color and the touch of stars add to the image.
Reguards,
ray w.

Jim, This is just outstanding. You have accomplished something that is very difficult to do with a photo; while losing myself in the image, I can lose myself in the vast lonely space, or move my eye one iota and be under the scrutiny of the lighthouse. It is captivating. I looked at all of your work, and it is obvious that you are very experienced and accomplished. Your work is striking, and I enjoyed the tour very much! Thanks for your recent kind comments. ...Brad

Beautiful Photograph Jim, thank you for the constructive comments on my photo. I appreciate this, much more than just a one word put down from a person, who, from looking at their work, is not much better than I am. I thought the whole idea of this site was to help each other by pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of our work. From the looks of your work, I can, and will appreciate your comments, as I can see that you definantely know what you are talking about. Thanks, and have a great evening, Bill and Lisa Weaver

I like this image, but the composition seems a bit akward to me. Not sure why. Perhaps the angle of the lighthouse contrasts too much with a vertical format. The colors, lighting, and detail however are excellent. Good work.

Great! I love negative space too. The orange against dark blue works good for me too. Nice.

The detail in the sky is what amazes me here.... and the fact that the light isn't blown out and yet you retained detail in the foreground becon. All of those factors make for a difficult exposure but you hit this one spot on. The colours are of gorgeous contrasts as well.
