I am by no means any type of critic, but I can say that I do really like the picture

Hugo thanks for the great critique. I know the selective focus isn't going to be for everyone. Considering the conditions this was the best I could with a makeshift tripod. I was actually leaning the camera on something to get this. I believe this was taken at f/9. The stacked lense, teleconverter and extension tube also doesn't provie much depth of field. As for the photo a day... it is in deed the attempt to take one quality image a day for 365 consecutive days. Its a lot harder than it sounds... so i'm finding out. Thanks again for adding your comment.

Hi Jim,
The bubble inside the droplet sure is very subtle; and almost the only part that is really in focus, so it seems.
But I don't believe that's the main aspect of this photo; the gradient and spectrum in it are, as far as I'm concerned, much more intriguing. very subtle and smooth.
Returning to the focus thing, It looks like the pane of focus is placed around the miniscus and reflection; that too is a very subtle element, making the photo look soft, but not out of focus.
One would almost start to wonder whether the little droplet inside the drop is an addition or a distraction, regardless of how intriguing it is. I'd go for the addition part, as it does attract the attention, and creates the element of surprise / the unexpected in this shot.
Nice work!
Reading your about, am I correct that your photo a day for a year effort means you're trying to one photo Every day? Quite a challenge...:)
Cheers,
Hugo

I forgot to note that this is as seen. No PS work was done other than to tighten the levels and add a little contrast.
