This is a great shot, I can feel the cold and the white out. Nicely composed and exposed.

Absolutely, Visar! I know that mask you talk about. It was about to be put on my face for good some time ago, but thanks heavens I managed to rip it off, somehow.

I realize, it's only fear of the unknown that makes too many willingly see only what they want to see - chitchat as you said, or much ado about nothing as Shakespeare seconds you.

A wasted life is a life behind those curtains - and we have only one life for wasting it that way.

All the best too!

Nick

ahoy there;
do that Nick, please, uncover that apparatus and let us make a party on a thousand stars hotel somewhere in the beaches of south where we might grasp a fistful of a little true joy refuged from the heavy mask of the reality-- where that social mask is so hopeless, dysfunctional--- or better say a little chitchat on this and that while bound on the universal 'curse' of this onward motion to the unknown- the beauty of whatever lays behind the curtains that we peeped and trapped our heads to that view, you know of what i am speaking ;)

all the best,
v.

Hi-ho, Visar!

No problem, my man, we have time enough for organising something, ey? ;-) Such a pity to not have known you two years ago, since at those times I was so iften there, but still we'll find some coordinates match.

As about the home made things down in the balkans, well, what do you think I was doing this summer in Greece? It was philosophy and drinkology under the stars! ;-) Such a strong spirit for my head, I tell you! ;-)

BTW, you might have already noticed, but I still refer to one more member of the "spritual" club - Avi - http://www.usefilm.com/photographer.asp?id=106863

So, in the meantime, let me search where that distillation apparatus might be lying, collecting dust!

hej Nick,

"" I could always get carried away with such things, Visar, and to tell you the truth I don't even consider this to be carried away from matters but rather to be carried right into the heart of matters. Whithout such a "being carried away" we would probably stop at the level of pure senses and perception without really having any chance for a deeper grasping of anything. So it was a great thing to do that here since it is a forum of arts, which of course should include the "more what meets the eye". For me at least. ""

that's right man!!

as for Scotch, Gyn, Absynthe or whatever-- hell; it's been my favortie sin eversince!! Though, i would really love to, right now i am kind of broke as i invested much into some things around, in a camera too, and have to wait-- but certainly we will!
as if i knew taht when i was in Swiss two yrs back- and in Zurich was some 3- 4 times, we could have had some!!
but we'll be in touch, and if you pass by balkans, anytime, feel free to let me know!! I could ensure some home made things holy water that would make the top of your head burn!

cheers,
v.

As about that girl with guts, I don't think that it sounds weird at all. One can immediately see that she took the most easy things to wear and made something extremely nice out of them. What does this show? Real mind and real gusto since without them she would end up being one of the many too many small girlies here that demonstrate only the wish to be "something special" by screaming "look at me" on self-presentation photos. ;-) You know what I mean, ey?

Thanks heavens there are also real women on this planet, strong, intelligent, wonderful human beings. Same goes for men too, all the great guys that we have here - but too few (for my taste) in comparison to the faceless, mindless masses.

Oh well, now I assume I'll be bombed away with messages that critique me for my "harsch" words - but the truth is the truth no matter what the immature may say.

Cheers ... oh, and hey, any chance for a scotch with me some day? OK, OK, make it burbon! ;-)

ah yes, the girls of these days-- though not just any girl, you know!! she sat sail with me for night of NY into the charms of realms of Mr. Jack Daniels- unfortunately had not something better- though, that's good enough to have your mind floating and move ahead like a drunken boat into a tormented sea-- everything was working fine until a moment of snaping, or i don't know (i imight have been singing on top of the roof like a cock as far as concerning my memory) but the following day i remember that my head felt like there was some crazy italian in it (no offence to italians, only i do admire their hot crazy temperament;))...
oh, i see i got carried away with the (lack of)memory of that night, but yeah, Ruza is a creat stylish girl and what i like about her even more than her charming style is that she is a graduated philosoper!! a girl with guts (ups, sounds weird),

Too much drinking, ey? ;-)

Thanks a lot for the info about the image, Visar! I could only wish you (and myself too) to buy that monster and post more such fantastic images!

What I see too now, after having spent some more time with the image, is its elegance in terms of the things that that girl in the foreground has on. It's such a good taste! Tell that to her from me if you see her! I see people around here having on the most modern version of winter fashion, and they look like colorful tramps in the snow. ;-)

But that girl on the image, surely put a certain mature and elegant flair on your image too - which together with your skill gave us this image!

Cheers,

Nick

well Nick, I adore fog and the atmospheres that are created by it.
the person on forground is a friend of mine, she came and called me as i was trying to sobber up myself after quite a long night of drinking at the NY eve. Through the window i saw the fog, and looked at her with all these colours on herself, the red fascinates me-- hence, i thought something beautiful might come up.
we went out and as we were climbing on the steep noticed those others ahead of us dissolving and was captivated by that irresistable view. luckily enough i had my 50 mm objective with a very good aparture (1.4) and that's how I got crisp details on the subject, and of course the monster itself F5 (which is not mine and now i am seriously considering to buy it!)

cheers,
v.

This one amazes be because of the very simple yet also very powerful design, while the strong colors on the person on the foreground stand in such a contrast to the otherwise almost white image! Except of conveying the snowy atmosphere it is also a good design study - perhaps also for winter fashion. Just a few persons and a very nice distribtions of them alongbthe depth of the image that is made feelable by the progressive "vanishing" of their contours as we look further into the image.

I guess that the exposure was rather hard to get so perfect, considering the compromise that had to be taken in order to avoid over/underexposure. You found the golden mean here, Visar!
