Comparing the cropped one and the original again, I must accept now that the crop indeed doesn't give me any impression of a stronger impact anymore, quite contrary to my first impression while cropping, Visar! Did I make the mistake to look at that from too far...? Now your original framing with a bit more burned lines appears better to me.

It seems that this one is harder than it looks - it looks so easy at first sight and then it starts playing games. About such images Andre Denis once said that they grow on us slowly, little by little, and I guess that this is such an image. You see it, you think of changing this an that, you try just about anything, and it is then that you see that it is already almost perfect as it is. Only just a bit of burning and that's all.. hear that and wonder! :-/ (That was meant for Nick.)

Cheers,

the wondering Nick

hi Nick,
thanks for the suggestion.
Your idea of burning to emphasise the lines works fine. though, about zooming in, i do not know if it makes much of imipact on the image, but certainly seems to give the subject more space in front. unline in my cut where there's more space in the back and upper part.

cheers,
v.

Thanks a lot for the info on the image, Visar. Jumping spiral, ey? ;-)

But post them, post as many as you can!!! Your "just nices" are unimaginably better than many too many "creations" that we see here! ;-)

As about a different crop, I was thinking of simply zooming in and at the same time keeping the relative position of the guy on the image, just in order to retain proportions and let him cover a bit greater region on the image. I attach the cropped image, on which I also used a bit of buring on the snow in order to enhance somewhat the traces of skis and snowboards. Imagine it also bigger and you have what I thought of. What do you say?

Cheers,

Nick

Crop and burn on the snow

oh yes, i was really struck by the lines of skiies and snowboards and thought it might create - ummm, this what you see, (note, i was satisfied with the result ) and the guy just made my wish come true as i was looking down and was unable to quicly react to any passer by, skiman-

i had some jumping spirals and on my feet :P, no no- i was on the lift this day, that was the last day of 2007- and it was a gorgeous day. I made a lot of pictures- film pictures, but most of them are just 'nice', and i am still considering whether to post them here!

all the best,
v.

ps, i did not think of a better crop- but if you do have a suggestion- bring it on ;)- we'll discuss it.

You added the element of climbing here, Visar, as the white snow could have been also a wall, and the person there could be a climber! The contrast of lines and spots in the snow is really great - very strong! And then that person there, on the thirds if that canvas, as the only different color available looks so interesting too - my eye is immediately drawn there! Could a bot of a closer zoom make it more interesting still?

BTW, where were you standing? On a tree? ;-)

Cheers and all the best,

Nick
