This is a very powerful yet sensitive image and THE best view I have ever seen of this subject matter. Your choice of B&W here is perfect. If I could, I would rate this a perfect 10!

It there is such a thing, such as a horse with a mood/ charachter-- i think that's what you have brought forth with this shot! Looks like he is down, and in trouble and what else... i would say this is a wonderfully detailed shot, very intimate!
regards,
V.

should definitly win an award!

Well spotted Art - I felt that the very slight differences in the two sides added a lot and I'm pleased you saw that.

AJ

PS. BTW, Doyle has another take on the elephant...

lol aj, hope you had your wellies on, good for you, took me ages to find the elephant, not so obvious as the faces,.also like how you have taken the time to clean up the left eye & shadow, not many would bother, but it does make a big differance to this kind of creation, i think you know what i mean,. interesting project on the way then, i hope,. much regards art,.

And I hear myself called 'different' a lot! This is a . . . ummm . . . (bizarre) . . . (unsettling) . . . uhhhh . . . unique! That's it, it's a unique image! Somehow a tad disturbing and I do think it's because it appears to be some sort of mutant human face one might encounter in the darkened basement of a isolated, midwest farmhouse during a rainstorm while the discordant strumming of a banjo from a distant location caries the Dueling Banjos song to your pulse-racing, somewhat addled mind. Worse, he has the universal sign of alien infestation on his furrowed brow!!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

I find this image so interesting because with this crop the horses face, and eyes especially resemble a humans and do look sooooo sad...
Righteously titled this is a very nice image IMHO -

Best wishes,
Michele~

I think you did, Art. And the funny thing is, I've been out taking shots of the eyes of cows and pigs this afternoon!

Talking of gargoyles, did you notice the elephant at the top?

Thanks for your comment - useful and interesting as always!

Thanks Tony! I occasionally print at A4 but am considering a decent A3 printer. Not sure which way to go yet, but I intend to run a few tests when I find a likely looking machine in a client's office!

I like the sound of the Day of the Horserider - there is something similar in Tarifa during the feria in early September (albeit on a smaller scale, no doubt). The idea of a photo session and a beer is very appealling, but I probably won't be able to make it on this occasion. We will definitely do it one of these days, though...

All the best,
AJ

now why didn't i think of that,. excellent aj,.would make a great project,ie,. do this to all the animals you can get close to,. makes one think, melancoly, so sad,. but brilliant,. well played aj,. a few gargoyles, but not at all distracting, they'l always be there,. regards art,.

Interesting flip, gives a very different view of a horse.Great clarity and detail too, this would look great at A3 or bigger-do you print out at home,if so,which printer are you using?
Bye the way,if you love horses and the whole scene around them,Friday is The Day of the Horserider and between 12.30 and 15.00 hrs there'll be a lot worth photographing in the park and down to the feria ground so maybe we could meet up for a beer!
Cheers, Tony

Very interesting work, I find it quite disturbing, maybe because of its human qualities. There is a sadness about the furrows on the forehead. Thought provoking. CC

Great job on this one. I really like the tight cropping. As in the other comments said, it really looks some kind of unreal. When you look at the picture without knowing it is a horse, you would have a hard time guessing it. Your really brought me to study the horse. I have never seen it that way. That's what a good photograph can do to you. You have seen it a hundred times before and then there is the one shoot. You look at it in totally differnt view. Wow.

Interesting work. I would never have picked this as a horse, the eyes have a slight human quality to them (or maybe ours sometimes look a little like a horse's).
Regards, Gary

wow! well somehow that effect makes the horse eyes looks like with an alien creture...super, oh my, you give me an idea to do that with a human face changing a lot about its face parts and makes for excample my face looks like an alien...lol...I think you must put something like a mouth on that...lol...kidding but really the result is very unique and personaly I like that excactly result you have here, fun work, nice result.
Be well dear AJ!
