Hi Elisa, I like the woman in #1 the best, she is also the lowest in resolution :) I have many other fog backgrounds, the problem is... not too many nurses left! Thank you very much for your visit and comment, Hugs, Ina

Hi Ina! Love your new series! Somehow I like the woman in number 1 the most, and the background here in 2. Anyhow, all are great and the concept is very good; well done, again, Ina! *hugs*

Hi Mark, thanks for taking the time to look again, I guess the greenish cast probably does it. I'll try if I ever use these pictures again, to color their faces to a more natural skintone, to appear more "alive" - that's a great observation and it helped me a lot. I really appreciate it! Another problem is that when I work on something, I always see it large, so many little details that are not visible in the non-pano version, are lost. Best regards, and thanks again for your great feedback :) Ina

Hi Ina. I now understand from your comment that you did not intend to create a ghostly appearance, so I came back to look more closely to determine what gave me that impression.
First the scene of fog and bare trees appears to be getting toward the end of the day and it creates a sort of stark, twighlit, other-worldly mood. Also, the bluish-green cast to the shot that you have propagated to the face of the figure gives her a slightly deathly cast. At least in my imaginary view. Also, her uniform coat sort of has a dark cloak look to it, and the hat also furthers the impression of a stealthy mysterious figure.
Looking at this shot in the panoramic view, the figure gives less of the ghostly impression and seems to fit into the scene a little better, becoming a bit more of an occupant of the scene, rather than a late observer. But I can't quite put my finger on why the larger image is creating that different impression. Perhaps because in the larger version I can make out the person's face more and it removes some of the mysteriousness...
I'm not sure if any of this is helpful, I just wanted to better understand why I had the impression I did and why that was different than the look/feel you were going for. Not too many answers here, unfortunately.
Very best, Mark

Thanks again Mark for your positive comment! I thought it was a strange split in this landscape between light and dark, so the figure with darker color clothing blended in better. It was also a higher resolution picture, her face is more defined than the other one. This was my second choice preference-wise, it seems that most visitors find this one the better of the two images. I didn't want to produce a ghostly image, rather something in between a memory and reality, as in a movie, as if she is taking a walk in the park, after a hard day's work, and thinking of the things she might have seen in her line of duty, being a nurse in WWI. Best regards, Ina

Awesome work here Ina. The diagonal line of light/dark in this image provides a wonderful segue from soft fog and light on the left into darker shadow and tone and a more severe and gaunt personage on the right. Almost like the figure is carrying the darkness with her. I don't if you intended a forboding or eerie effect here, but it sure stands out to me! Great effect, very well done!
Mark

Hi Chuck, These are nurses in uniform from WWI, this one's with Red Cross in Europe, the other one is with the Navy. Archival pictures from almost 100 years ago, the background is from around here :) Best regards, Ina

Ina,
A really nice photo -- reminds me of something you would see from the 20s - 40s time period. The fog gives it that feel - at least for me. Great job!

Thanks very much Susie, she's a Red Cross nurse in WWI - in Europe, this was the storm uniform. I'm sure they were seeing a lot of wounded, and no antibiotics. The PS was really easy, just two layers and color adjustment :) Best regards, Ina

Why do all the nurses look so creepy. I work at the hospital and none of them look like that. This is a mental health nurse huh? The grounds are kept in a dark forest far away from civilization. Sure glad that the uniforms have changed. Lots of fun to view. Kelly

This is my favorite of the 2 for some reason. I think she blends in a little better. What an intense look on her face. I wonder what she was seeing...probably not good stuff in WWII. Good PS work as usual Ina. You've really got this stuff down. Susie
