About I'm sorry to say I've not been abel to comment at all over the last few days. and that will unfortunately not change till March, as I'll be away on business. Yet, I'll be back sooner than you'll care for...:) Wish you all the best and I promise to catch up with you soon....

A bit of background info: In the Indian Reservation in the North-West of the Olympic Penisula, the native indians are still using their ancient methods of fishing. As far as I've understood, it's their right, and their right alone. This sequel deals with a single catch, using the traditional Indian methods.

Continuing the Motion Picture Project, as well as the continuous triptych theme. This time no fancy technique with strobes, flash or anything.

Ingredients:

Junior League Soccer
A bit of equipment:
Nikon D2x
Sigma 135-400 mm f/4,5-5.6

Aperture: f/5,6
EV correction: 0,0 EV
ISO Speed: 100
Focal Length: 400mm

Photoshop: Nuthin' except presentation.

Your comments, as usual, are very welcome!

Lovely photos with a background light - beautiful silvery effect on the water - and an interesting story. Great work!

A facinating sequence. I think the textural detail of the water surface and the net are wonderful aspects of these shots. Obviously the sun angle is key here, and very well chosen. And this angle of shooting reveals how narrow the boat is, and so also how difficult it is to stand and work in such a narrow boat. So while the photo is beautiful in it's light and texture, it is also poetic in showing a man working with great skill and ease in a delicate situation. A well done!

Best regards,
Mark

Hi Ina, Good guess! Hours is next... I thought about adding a black frame and I do believe it would've worked well, too. The reason I went for the white border is that It would match the other two better. In hindsight, I could've / should've used a black frame all together....:) Thanks for the feedback!

Cheers,

Hugo

Everyone 'else' is perhaps waiting for a "Matter of Hours" ... but I bet it's going to be a "Matter of Weeks" ... !:))

But of course there is no way you are going to abort ... Right?

wooww... hi hugo..
your views are 111... stunning..
the shot and sequence is so another great idea.. also for the perfect timing and moment of the action!
really is big.. also in his simplicity; appreciate the vertical sequence a little more ritmics.
Personally I find that the contrast mask (unsharp mask) is too much clear, but she is a humble opinion of mine.

Good serene week end my big friend

cheers

Hi Hugo,

good to hear from you again... UF is a bit shy of people these days... Looks like a "thumb cinema" to me. Good work on the shutter, the light (especially great at the silhouette of the men and within the water) and the presentation.

Great composition Hugo, the second one it seems, in your series: A Matter of Seconds... Minutes... what's next? Hours? Just a guess. Great concept, I like it, it works very well in vertical panorama, like a video sequence. The water and net reflections are beautiful, and I like how you alligned the man vertically in the exact same spot. Great backlighting, too. I was wondering if a black frame wouldn't be more advantageous, because the pictures seem to be on the bright side - brighter than the soccer ones. But I'm sure you wanted to keep it consistent as a series. Well done, looking forward to a Matter of Hours :) Best regards, Ina

Interesting series Hugo, wonder what the health & safety people would say about standing up in a canoe - but I guess you can't play Junior League Soccer sitting down ;)

I like the sparkles on the water and the glow on the net in this very nice composition.

Yes the Indians are about the only ones left in this country that have any rights at all. Looks like a great catch. Don.

I do not know my friend but there is no light here which means there is no photography _ the subject is very noisy and with great distractive Surrounding ,it is not even plesent to view ,well this is how I would look at it any way, unless of course some one else make a first page out of it ,Still I wish you all of the best and a good luck with it my dear friend .
