Great series. I like this one and the scale the best because they have a nice sense of motion to go along with a nice composition. The dice shots also has a clear sense of motion, but the first image starts in an odd place for me. The "dancer" looks like you just used strobe for the heck of it.

thanks for the report. The only thing that really annoys me on the D70 is the metering. My F65 does a WAY better job in metering light. =)

Can't even begin to comprehend how you did this and even if... I'm 'lacking' in the camera department... multiple flash, yeah right.... ;-D!!! It's a super shot, well worth getting up for in the middle of the night... something I can grasp... LOL!!! Well done, good (remaining) clarity (I mean: it's blurred but clearly visible as a German two euro coin), great colors against that black background.... neat idea and well executed!!!!

It almost looks like a sepia Hugo...but I see your note about the lack of PS. I can almost hear the sound of the coin spinning. This is very appealing. It has the feel of a vintage image. Even though you look at it as an experiment, it is worth framing for me. Very creative and wonderful motion, tone, composition for a simple flip of a coin. Antonia

Hi Thilo, yeah, I recently got my hands on the "allmighty" D2x. Compared to the D100, it outclasses the D100 in every aspect, which is also it's limitation. In it's highest resolution, you create huge files, which also requires a huge amount of storage capacity. But the image quality and metering is superb. So much better than the D100....

Hi Karen, The key to the visibility of the coin is the contrast between subject and background, as well as the repetitive flash bursts I used during the spin. It freezes the various position, capturing it's motion.

Hi Todd, It wasn't that controversial, nor spectacular. Maybe I'll upload it again in the future, but I'm sure I can come up with better things....
This whole concept of ideas is build around the motion picture theme, using various techniques to capture a change over time. Still shooting, and I have only just started....:)

great idea.. I like the motion of the coin.. too bad you could not have captured the coin a bit sharper although the sharpness of the coin is pretty good. I think you could crop even more of the image... great work

Hi Hugo, great shot! I actually attempted this a while ago but just couldn't get any decent results - too bright, out of the frame, etc. Great idea to use a black background to contrast the coin. Well thought out and nicely executed.

ah, back to the picture. as far as I can judge it, very good motion blur concept shot. the black background adds some contrast. nice sparkling effects.

I like the idea behind this image, and the title is rather clever. I really love the blur that surrounds the coins. There is still enough coin shown in the rolling part of the image. I'm really curious as to how you got them to be so visible-esp. with the speed I am sure this coin was rolling at. I am extremely interested in what else you will do with this newest series. I think it has a lot of potential. Well done Hugo~

I made one similar many time ago Hugo not with a coin but with my wedding ring on black background. I had at that time a Kodak DX camera very automatic and it wat not possible to set anything technical, nevertheless the blurred movements designed a very graphical writings by which I inspired the title (which I forgot now). I thought it was here in Usefilm but probably it is one of my early image I posted in early times. Difficult to find it for me to show you

The idea behind the tunsten lamp is that I needed some additional lighting, and I don't have decent strobes, yet. I placed it about 1 m right of the camera, relatively low. At 500W, it's close enough to simulate daylight.

I totally missed your previous post, Hugo. A lot of this kind of stuff seems to go under my radar and then I am left wondering what the heck happened.
This is very good use of the strobe function of your flash. Well done. The results are nice.
I like this kind of stuff and have never tried it. What was the thinking behind the tungsten lamp, and what was its positioning?
