Yes, the files you post for yourself can only be 800 x 800 and 360KB file size, or less. And if you are sharing the photo and posting it for a critique it can be no larger then 500 x 500 with a file size of 120KB, or less... I shoot at 3504 x 2336 with a file size of 2.70MB. You can see that I must shrink the file quit a bit...
No big deal, as I resize the postings using Photoshop 2.0, or Photoshop CS. The 2.0 version is free with the purchase of anything. I had 2 copies, one I got with my scanner and the other came with my 20D... They might have a free download version, because it should promote the sales of better versions later...
No matter the 2.0 does anything a beginner would need... Also Tracey Main turned me onto a program that is wonderful. Triscape FxFoto, that was only $35.00 and that is what I use for my frames and sepia filters... Best damn $35.00 I ever spent and I just downloaded it on the net... Couldn't have been easier...

My only question about having the photos put on a CD is about the file size. I know that the bigger the file the better quality you'll get on the photo, but don't you have to keep them a certain size (not too big) for posting on UF? I'm only asking because I had some of my Slide Film put onto a CD (at a pro-lab) and a few of the files were to big to post on UF. Maybe I just need some computer classes so that I can figure out how to change the file size for posting. :)
I do have a favorite local pro-lab that I used to take my film to sometimes, but now I've started taking my film there all of the time due to some pretty disapointing photos from the less expensive labs. Basically, I've learned my lesson to stick with the better labs.

I thought so, that does explain a lot and answers many other questions I had. Now I won't have to ask...
I have a Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV, for my 35mm film... Which only scans at 3200 dpi, but your flat bed is less than that, at around 1200 dpi, or so... Each process you can avoid will improve the final outcome 20-30%...
Please try this? Go to a Pro Lab... No drug stores, no camera chains, no other lab except a Pro Lab and have them burn a CD in the largest format they can do. Most offer 2, or more file sizes, and yes bigger is better...
Since you shoot MF, I must assume you know of a Pro Lab? Just in case you need pricing structure for comparison reasons, check out "bwc.net" for the real thing...
The processing shouldn't be more than $7.00 and the CD should be around $20.00. Don't pay for prints at this time... Cost is a little more, but you will love the results of your new posts. Then after viewing the CD, go back and have the negatives of the ones you really like printed on quality paper.
Heck let them worry about the dirt, dust and grain... Right? Give the lower ISO's a chance... lol

I use a USB flatbed scanner. It doesn't always scan very well, but it works. There are a few photos that I LOVE, but I can't get them to scan very well so I have never posted them. Just another reason to think about digital...

Yes, I had SO much fun in the dark room. It's just so great to be able to print the shots that you took and to develope them the way that you want them to look. Now I wish that I had one of my own!
