About	It may look like a row of cells, but it is actually a block of low-rent appartments. Many young couples start their married life in one of these... This was very early in the morning, and I think camera shake has softened the image a little.

If you are young and in love, I imagine these one-room apartments could be the nearest thing to heaven on earth, Gabriela. But externally I can't help noticing the resemblance to cells!

Hahahaha!!! Very good joke!!! I lived in such a one for seven and a half years after my arrival in Japan, only a little more romantic!Fact is...I never thought of it in such terms!

Yes, Margaret, like prison cells. And not much more cheerful... although I guess young couples enjoy each other more than the surroundings. Only those who marry very young end up in these. Marriages are much later in Japan... average of 28 for the woman, 29 for the man, so there are generally savings sufficient for a better place.
