Superb composition, I believe this is a much better version than the other Angelo simply because of how you repositioned the flower & how the resulting shadow accentuates it. Good thirds too, well captured & kind regards.

I like much more this one than the previous one, the diagonal composition is great and love how the flower and its shadow seem that will converge at some point... The red colors is beautiful and contrasts perfectly well with it's shadow... Great an original...

Cheers,

Maluisa

Yeah, cool shaddow, isn't it!?

I thought it was a great trick by that tulip, it takes great skill to cast the shadow of a fat-headed barracuda! ;)

OK, this one's really beautiful but the one thing that bugs me a bit (and that's cause I'm on dial up so the shot scrolled down really slow). The shadow (which is very important in this shot) kinda looks like some strange bird or snake (with a very strange neck) ready to attack the flower. I think if the shadow was more of a solid black it would have worked better. Ouch, that was a lot of thinking - my brain hurts ! Mark

A lovely image. Lots of movement and grace. 2 things I might considering changing. The first has already been mentioned, which is to crop just a tiny bit off the bottom. The second would be worth considering if you ever plan to shoot this again...which is, I'd like to see a bit of detail where there are blocked up shadows on the tulip leaves. A small white reflecter would do the trick, I think. It's possible that would not improve the image, but might be worth experimenting with.

Beautifully rendered with the mimimalistic composition, love the angle and the strong shadows. The color is rich, and the combination of the flower and the shadow with no distracting elements is visually stunning.

I can't make a comparison yet, I haven't seen the other angle, but this one is fantastic!

Excellent work, Angelo!

Hi Hugo,

Yes, I had taken all these tulip photos some time ago, back in February, and they have been sitting on my computer disk ever since, waiting for an opportune moment to post.

I'm afraid there's lots more flower shots to come, though probably not many more tulips ;)

Angelo. If at first you don't succeed-go home. But you did perservere and you did succeed. This is much better and of course its all down to the shadow. Great pic. This is now the best of the bunch.

hi, looked at other one and didn't like the shadow because it seemed too bold/dense and not mimic the flower like this one...this has a nice flow about it,too...color,lighting and contrast level work well together here...would look dramatic with a black mat framed on a wall...oops! forgot that you hate red/black combos..LOL..regards,gayle

Hi Angelo, This is much more like what I had in mind... I assume you already took this one? Not only the details and shape of the shadow, but also the converging lines, fitting nicely with the blurry streaks of shadow create a much more dynamic feel. Huge improvement, as far as I'm conserned.

Cheers,

Hugo

And a better one (IMHO)!!! Love the selective (de)coloring, the tulip (in full glory still....) and the light/shadow effect... great (simple but very effective) composition... well done!!! Maybe just the thiniest crop from the bottom to get the shadow to start in the corner...

Amazing work Angelo. The green and red from the tulip are bold and stand out perfectly from the contrast of black and white in the background. A beautiful and excellent presentation!
