About I got this silly ambition to take macros with insects in them. Well, this isn't exactly a macro (I took it with my telephoto lens) but I did get two more insects! (Ladybirds)

Roger, I like the way this picture flows, the DOF is good and the colors are great. and the ladybird add to the flavor of the shot.
Congrats!

...or even, Richard, if they were in fact gentlemen bugs! As I wrote to Ron Wilson, though, the bugs were just icing on the cake. I only spotted them after I took the picture. I'm generally pleased with the DOF, which I worked very carefully to get to cover the main flowers and leaves.

Ron, the bugs were an accident... a kind of bonus. I didn't even spot them when I was taking the picture, only noticed them on the enlargement! I think I would probably have left the focus as it was even if I had noticed them because I was struggling with depth of focus to get all the main flowers sharp...

Not to take away from the ladybugs, but the central stalk of flowers is very pretty, sharp, colorful and well exposed with fine detail, too. The ladybugs are not in the plane of focus. I cannot make out their facial features, so I don't know which ladybugs they are or if they are posing in a professional manner.

Roger, it's beautiful. The flowers are lovely and the little visitors are cute and easy to see. The comoposition and vertical presentation for this are super. Wonderful shot--very bright and cheerful.

The flower is very pretty. Unfortantly the bugs are lost by not being in focus.

Roger I know the feeling, I used to just want a decent flower shot, and then a decent insect shot - now I want both LOL You go for two straightaway and a telephoto macro :) My next upload will be a 'flower/bug' shot.
