I think you post some great photos of all areas, the secret to bird photography is to quit working, forget about the family they take up too much shooting time, spend all your money on 5k lenses, sleep in the wildlife reserves LOL. just joking but it can be very time consuming and at times like work, If i could only get paid more then the occasional 1 photo per 2 months I would be ok ! NO really I think that just having fun shoot lots of shots , I always am quick to forget the blown ones and just If at first you dont succeed. If I told you I have over 500,000 bird shots over the last 4 years you would probably think Im a nut so I wont tell you that LOL..
Take care....
Marcus.

In route to check out your belted kingfisher I seen this Looking for Dinner shot.....
Marcus the day I shot my kingfisher I sat in my blind and was able to shoot a blue heron scoring a fish about 12 different times.....man I have allot to learn about capture quality action shots with birds be cause I basically blew these opportunities. But I will not give up and will return when time allows.
lol ok off to check out you kingfisher....I get side tracked easy :)

Hi jim, Just remember the 300 F/4 has IS, the 400/5.6 is not, could mean alot. the 100-400IS is a nice lens for the price and you never get stuck being too close to your subject....

Obviously, you are not a scary guy. This somehow reminded me of a dinosaur picture. It is a beautiful shot.

Excellent bird photo, Marcus. at first sight makes you remember that birds are offsprings of dinosaurs.
Thank you for your very kind comment on my "That!"

Hi Marcus,
Great lighting in this one! These can become almost freindly once they get to know you are not going to hurt them. One of the fishermen near our cottage actually used to put fish on the bow of his boat and one of them would regularly come and sit there to eat while the man fished six feet away in the same boat. I think he trained it from an early age.

Love the light here Marcus, excellent image, they are so much fun to watch. Lens seems to do a very good job. I am thinking of buying the 400 5.6 or the 300 4. Can't make up my mind I have the 70-200 f 2.8 and a 1.4 extender. your thoughts ?

Ok, this will make you chuckle, in the thumbnail - I thought this was a "long neck" dino! :)
I love your nature shots - so well captured and spot on with the details and light hitting them. You have such a keen eye Marcus.

I was atleast 30 meters, I used my 400mm no TC.
I have a wider angle view that is really nice but is more like a landscape, and does not fit my portfolio....
Thanks for the comment...

Beautiful shot. I especially like the way you caught the beak against the dark background. The saturation emphasizes the light very effectively.
