About The house next door to us is unoccupied. The owner lives just across the street, and uses the parking space to display her beautiful flowers. Since I have rather limited DOF with this lens, I carefully focussed on the flowers nearest and furthest away, noting the distances on the focus scale, then chose an aperture (and matching shutter speed) that would put these two distances on either end of the DOF aperture marks. It seems to have worked. Something to be said for manual cameras, huh?

No, no! Bertram...e both love dogs, so DOG is fine with me! Isn't the lens amazing, though! It was you and John Robertson who encouraged me to think of Russian lenses again, and I'm so glad I did. Thanks!!

Well worked out, Roger!
I think the science of it is beyond me, but it's a fine and colourful shot of this rather unusual 'garden'.
Best regards, Chris

And of course it came out well. Lovely camera work. And yes I know the drawbacks of manual settings. At the same time it makes you understand a camera and lens. Your neighbour has a good feel for symmetry as well. Rob.

Paul, as you may know, I'm mostly a wide-angle rangefinder person, so I didn't want to spend much on an SLR system I thought I'd only be using for macros and (just maybe) telephoto shots. So I got an all-manual SLR with M42 mount and have been picking up lens bargains ever since. But I must admit that stop-down TLL metering is a bit TOO manual for my taste! However, I'll stick with it until (if ever) I go digital. I'm also shortly being given an MF 6 x 6 SLR, and that may widen my range still further, although my first lens will be--you guessed it--a fisheye.

John, she just loves flowers and has filled all the available space in and around her own home. This is the "overflow." I wonder why the house, which is a rather nice one, is left vacant.

I still manually set up my camera but have to admit that I sometimes think I was more creative with my completely manual SLR's in the past... very colorful and has a nice springlike feel... good work

Interesting use of the parking space Roger. Does you neighbour display them for sale or just to 'beautify' the space? Regards John
