About Because my first attempt at taking a file straight from the scanner and combining images reminded me so much of David Lynch's images, I thought I would try to evoke a "Twin Peaks" forest spirit type scene. Face scanned straight from the scanner 96 dpi BW .The forest scene is in the Canadian Rockies somewhere near Banff Alberta Scanned from a B&W negative.

You have a point Shirley. I just realized that any images of me on Usefilm are either distorted experiments, images from 30 or more years ago, or I have my back turned to the camera. I should at least get an SP up in the profile page.
Thanks for visiting.

You're welcome, dear Andre! Maybe you'd better post a normal self-portrait so I'll believe you are not that weird...lol.;) I did look through your Dark Side gallery...very interesting. Of course, I'd seen some of them before.:)

Thanks Shirley,
I'm glad you like my little homage to David Lynch.

I got the idea from another member here (Grant DeLanoy) when I saw some images that he did scanning his face directly on the scanning glass. I thought they looked really disturbing, so I had to try it myself. Very spooky results indeed. I then took it one step further and tried a similar technique to one of Janette Hagglund's images. I merged my spooky scanned face with a tree trunk.

I thought this one reminded me of "Bob" from Twin Peaks. So, one thing led to another and I put this one together. There are a couple more in my Dark Side portfolio.

Every now and then, I'll go off on a binge where I want to do some images with a bit of an edge to them. like these. BTW, I'm not quite as weird looking in real life as I am in these images :)

Hi Andre, saw the link to this on Claude's post, and the reference to Twin Peaks, which was also a favorite of mine...scary series! Love you weird creation! Very 'Twin Peaks' indeed!

Thanks Fadel, I started feeling like I wanted to do something a dark, weird feel to it just after our conversation about those dead seagull shots you took.

hi andre,

now this is getting scary - and like this stuff. looks like the face is getting trapped in spiders nets.... and that the head is exploding ;-)

lots of fun to watch and awesome technique.

What do you mean funny? My wife says it's a perfect likeness! :)

Are you familiar with Twin Peaks? The tv series by David Lynch early 90's. A little dark, a lot quirky, a little funny. That's kind of what I was going for.

I thought you might have taken those pics down. I wouldn't have if I were you.

I know I've felt the same way about some of mine. And then, out of the blue a nice comment will pop up two months later that makes me think there is someone out there that can relate to my images. Sometimes it's just a matter of timing. The right image and the right viewer have to be synchronized I guess.

I love it. Very funny -- and dark. This is your brain after too much time on UF! Well done my friend! BTW, thank you for your kind remarks on my posts re art repro and the portrait the other nite. I took it down for lack of interest at UF. Oh well.

Ian,
There is always a kind of uncomfortable edge to Lynch's work. So, thanks for the compliment.

outrageously incongruous
Lynch would love it.
