Glad you like it! :) Using PS, first, I turned the background to b&w and blurred it a little(simply duplicate the image, turn the first image to b&w tone, add blur and then use magic wand to select the maskedman from the second image then drag it on the b&w--that's the only technique I know! sorry :)but it's pretty good. ) thinking it would make the maskman stand-out of the image. But then the background seems to be still distracting so I decided to add lighting effects to hide part of the background. And thats what made the face glow! :) Hope this helps you! :)

Not sure Alison. I suspect I would have stretched the levels up so the whites were whiter they seem a bit greyer than they probably were. Not to brighten the whole thing neccesarily but to re-present what your ccd captured with a wider range of tones. I think your histogram would show a lot of empty space on the right representing the tones not being used. I don't have access to such a programme where I am so just boofed up the contrast a tad with the microsoft photo editor I have on the computer at hand at the moment. I think what I've done is more generally to my taste but it's crude and I've lost a lot of skin tones. I don't think the answer is increasing the contrast but pulling up the hilights (to my taste). Got a "levels" control on your software?

Oh someone tell me what. Again the value of flash shown here Alison. Like the flaking make up. I still wonder if it is a tad dark or high (or low)in contrast or something these flashed shots that you may have over come easily with some programme.

From the painted tears, and half color face, you can tell what character he's playing.
