About Spent another day in the garden with the macro lens and some new extension rings. This is just one of 206 images I took today. There is a ready supply of props and extras out there, though the Ladybirds take star billing ;-)

Keith, wondering if you used flash since the background is so dark. This is absolutely one of the best images I have seen in quite some time. Great color and composition. You really know how to work with your models. Excellent framing!

All elements including composition, light, colors, background, exposure, focus are all briliant and masterfully done. A simple shot yet so aesthetically pleasing. A true winner.

Magic shot .. the curving plant is a great asset !
Only little detail would be the little red spot on the background, which is a bit distracting ..
Nevertheless a superb capture, love it !
Regards, Peter

Hey, Keith, did you see we made the front page together? I'm sure it's more due to your beautiful macro than my comment, which was mostly about me amd my foibles, not the photo itself. Very odd, but most welcome!

Hi Chris, thanks for the comment. Its so simple really. I have a small garden pond with a plant or two of a reed which grows in spirals. I cut a stem and placed it in a holder on the patio table. Then with the 10D and 100mm macro lens set up the shot. I used the flash off to the right with a white card to the left and used a copper beech hedge as the background. 206 images later and a little post production in PS to make its zip ....

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique This is a great one, Keith. It's got a place in my gallery of fame. Er, that is my favourites. It'll be an inspiration to soldier on with the macros. Actually I'm having lots of fun with my old-fashioned SLR. I've just discovered the joys of EXTREME telephoto lenses (for me that means, gasp! 135mm). Oh, and circular fisheyes. Still love rangefinders but appreciate the extra dimensions my hobby has recently acquired.

Ken I have 205 other close-ups, some so close it might scare little children. I'll post a few over the next few days.
