About A sure sign of Spring here is hearing the geese honking as they fly in their 'V' formation on their way back from more southern regions.
I am not sure the string of geese is clear to see once posted. It goes right back through the dark cloud.

Thanks so much Mary for the very interesting information. I am so pleased you wrote about it. Its amazing how they fly as a team to reduce the burden on each. I am amazed at how they take care of the sick. Well, there is so much to learn from nature.
Warm regards, Ahmed

In the Spring time and in the Fall the geese migrate past our region. There are often hundreds in a day. They fly in a V formation. There is a reason for the V formation. This may be long but here is

The Goose Story

Next Fall, when you see Geese heading South for the Winter....flying along in a "V" formation...
you might consider what Science has discovered:
As each bird flaps its Wings, it creates an Uplift for the bird immediately Following.
By flying in "V" formation the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range, than if each bird flew on its own.
When a goose falls out of Formation it suddenly feels the Drag and Resistance of having to go it alone....and quickly gets back into Formation
to take Advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front.
When the Head Goose gets tired it rotates back in the Wing...and another goose flies Point.
Geese honk from behind to Encourage those up Front to keep up their Speed.
Finally....and this is important, when a goose gets sick, or is wounded by Gunshots, and falls out of Formation, two other Geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend Help and Protection.
They stay with the Fallen Goose until it is able to fly or until it Dies; and only then do they launch out on their own or with another Formation to catch up with their Group.

Toni, it is a hydro line. On a closer look, I remember taking part of it out in a brighter area or two. I guess I just didn't notice it showing up in the darker areas.

Re the wire, it does look like it might be something else the way it breaks up. Perhaps something happened when you uploaded the picture.

Toni, you know what? Somehow I missed the wire. I looked for it after it was mentioned and then a got a friend here who is also on UF to point it out. I don't know if it my monitor or what, but I had trouble seeing it. However, it was obviously evident to some. Thanks for mentioning it.

What magnificent skies you capture, Mary. I never see skies like this from one year's end to the next! I too can see the long line of geese. Indeed, I can almost imagine I hear their mournful honking! Very evocative...

Absolutely stunning, Mary. I can see the geese just fine-- but even without them, the picture would be great-- the clouds, the colors the trees. The geese are just an added bonus.

Mary: Nicely done! The problem with online photos is that they have to be so small. I would like to see this image at a reasonable size because I'm sure it's truly beautiful to view. It is lovely here but at a disadvantage which is sad. Nevertheless, keep posting as I think you have a wonderful talent to share.

Chris, thanks for viewing my latest sunset and your kind comment. Also, thanks for pointing out the line. You know, it is either my monitor or my eyes, I really didn't notice it hiding in the darker clouds near the top. If I had, I would have taken it out. After you mentioned it, I looked closely and found it finally. I have taken it out in my saved one on my computer.
Take care, Mary
