About This is the moat around the Imperial Palace, just a stone's throw from my office. The fisheye's distortion has been masked by Nature's fractal patterns.

Hi Roger
I like this image a lot too!
Thanks for your comments,
Yes I went through your “fisheye collection’ and it’s very good photos you captured.
I love the fisheye lens always. It fascinates me as same way and the interesting distortion we get through.
Yes, I am in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK currently and will be here for next ten months working on BBC’s animated TV serial.
Are you from England?
Cheers
Dhimant

Dear Antonella, I have hesitated to reply to this comment of yours, but in my own case I was aware of a failure with telephoto lenses. Eventually I bought a cheap Russian one (135/3.5) and made it a rule that it would be the lens on the camera in my bag, so whenever I took it out, it would be the first through which I looked at possible subjects. This resulted in taking more pictures. And now some of them are not bad. I think I am learning... Maybe you could do something similar. At least you could always start with the zoom at the WA end? It always nice to extend one's range. ButI warn you, 21mm is hard, but 16mm fisheye is much harder!

Antonella, I might be able to tell you why you don't like wide angle lenses if you could tell me why I don't like telephotos... At least, I find it very difficult to get good pictures with them. I keep trying, though. Perhaps you should take more? Leave your zoom(s) behind one day and try zooming with your feet!

It's lovely to have one of your encouraging comments again. Thanks...

What a marvelous photo, my dear Roger!!! A real triumph!
Can you explain me why, up to now, I still can't see with a wide-angle??? This is driving me crazy!
Hugs!!!
Antonella

Roger,

I love what you have done with those branches and flowers here. The way they are set out against the sky is very beautiful indeed. The whole thing frames the picture on all sides, and gently leads the eye into the center... is that the imperial palace???

Yes, Tim, the fisheye got a real workout on the two days when the cherry blossoms peaked. It's SUCH a brief season--just one weekend! This scene was ideal for the fisheye. Great lens for US$00, huh?

No offence taken from your comment, Tim. I find oversaturated colours a bit much although I usually keep try not to comment on them... I know I'm in a tiny minority, especially on Usefilm.

Hi Roger!!
just love this fish eye shot. This is the perfect composition for this type of lens.....man it looks like you are deep in season of blossoms.
Hope you didn't take offence to my comment about saturation last time i was only pulling your leg as i know you like the more natural perspective....as for me i love colors and i will add more if i feel i can get away with it to improve on a feeling within the image.

Nice job on this photo. I thought at first that it was a fisheye lens, but I looked again, and I couldn't make up my mind until I read the description. That's a really cool concept! Ah, nature strikes again!

Hi Roger, That's what I like about those fish eye lenses, they show so much! Love the cherry blossom closing the composition on top. A pitty about the construction work going on, although that creates the provoking confrontation / conflict I generally like in a photo... (maybe in this case the sweetness of a more picturesque scene could've been more applicable, if you know what I mean....)

Cheers,

Hugo

Beautiful blossom and water, Roger ~ just a shame about the crane in the distance.
Best regards, Chris
