Ok I feel dumb, I was looking at my camera and reading about shutter speeds. Now on my camera it displays S 5'. Which I mistook for being 5s like posted above. I guess it is really 1/5 of a second and if It were 5 seconds it would of read 5" on my camera. Hence the magic of no tripod. Feel free to slap me with a fish! =)

Wow... 5 seconds...

it's a shame we didn't start this when it was sunny at night really, no tripod required then. They are a bit clumsy to carry but when you've had a few drinks (ahem) it's very tricky keeping still!!

If you're up for learning more then I'd recommend reasing...

Bill Fortney's Great Photographic workshop (or something like that) as it introduces loads of photographic concepts in an easy to read and try way.

A bit more advanced it "Perfect Exposure" by Jim Zuckerman, that's just about getting the exposure right for the scene - nothing else. But that's the most important thing really.

Then there's a field guide by..... ummm I've forgotten his name, that's really detailed about everything. Not a bed time read, but not a chemistry lesson either.

I got them all from Amazon USA for very little with the dollar being weak at the time.

Sure we can explain most things between us though. Just ask BEFORE the pub

Cheers

Ade

Thanks James, I wish there were some photography courses I could do nearby. I would love to learn more.

Have a quick look at what I have just put up, it was taken behind where you took your photo. In fact the "Beer Keller" place were we went for something to eat is directly behind me. Remember when Nidge mentioned about capturing a ghost ?

I shall say no more ;-)

Thanks as well Steve. I can always look forward to your input on my photos. Hopefully once I get back to the States I can start throwing myself in some classes for this stuff so I wont have to look back at you with a blank stare when I dont know what your talking about. =)

I remember this place :-)

Excellent capture James, Den is a good friend and little did he know that the watering hole was a good 72 metres from this point.

And I can put hand on heart and say James did not have a single drink and I was only on shandy lol

Great photo James - still going through mine !

Best wishes,
Steve

5 secs and no tripod? You did a brilliant job James. Obviously before entering a watering hole (Haha)
