About Subject Background: Venice, San Marco's place. Just the beginning of a night shot session with Chrissie, when the sky was really awesome. Used my wide angle lens under very bad lighting condition.

Photoshop concept: Had to work heavily on the grain with neat image. did everything to preserve the golden lights and the great sky. geometry comes from the heavy wide angle, didn't touch that part.

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated.

Thanks for all the people that commented on my FC pictures.

Dear Arwa,

thanks a lot for the kind words. Personally, I like the outcome a lot as the original image is really badly underexposed and grainy ;-)

Take care my friend,
Thilo

Hi bro,

thanks for the feedback. The original image looks quite bad. As I wanted to make a wide-angle shot, I had to use the 18-35mm Sigma with f/3.8-5.6. So the image was heavily underexposed. I did my best to enlighten the image, but thereby multiplied the grain.

This is my first real night shot experience with ISO 800, so be patient ;-)

Take care,
Thilo

Mmmmhmmmm! You know I love grain, but I'm struggling with the lower part of the image. Doesn't look right for me. Was that underexposed and you worked on that? I don't see why you got that grain with a 800 film. It has a nice atmosphere and I like the colors and the full-of-life-effect. I told you, you need a trypod, but you don't listen;-)

Hi Patrick,

hmmh... you don't like grain? =) normally, I'm not a fan either but I have to admit that I changed my mind during the time at UF here when I saw a LOT of beautiful grainy images.

The non-detail in the faces doesn't come from the grain btw. I wanted to make a wide angle shot, my f/1.4 was 50mm x1.5. So I used my 18mm with 3.8, way too low for this setup. So I underexposed the image deliberately and put the focus on the back area. So there's no secret why you cannot see any detail in the faces ;-)

no tripod at hand.

anyway, thanks for the honest comment, my friend.

take care,
thilo

I think what you had a good work with the noise.
Do you know the program "Noisy Ware"? It's good and free in Internet.
Kisses.

Perhaps abit to much grain.. hard to see faces etc. Did you use a tripod? I think its a must with bad light conditions if we dont wanna use Iso1600 or something. Very hard to do these nightshots.. as we self doesnt see exactly what we photo. If i dont use a tripod myself on these.. they become very bad.. =(

I love the very blue sky and the warmlights though.. to bad about the heavy grain.. could have been perfect!

Work on my friend! =)

Cheers
