Someone mentioned how the roof echos the curve of the hills. Yeah -
I think the brilliance is in the composition.
I think this is a strong photograph from the light/dark balance. The white cloud provides an excellent negative space infused with a vertical energy - and the old house just "happens" to be set right in that energetic space as a dark positive.
No trees. Must be in Texas.
Looks like some Photoshop work, but done with a finesse to elevate the image without whistles and hokeyness.

Is that a sandstorm in the background? Or is it the sky? Looks truly awesome.. Love the composition here.. with the two old houses.. the field.. the hill and then the amazing "sky". Really a great shot.. 7++ from me!! Well deserved!

Faultless. A stunning image, the sky and its effect on the foreground, the way the roof of the middle shed imitates the rolling hills and the leaning shed drawing one's attention back into the image where there would otherwise be a risk of being drawn out of the left side of the image. Great.
