About I was fortunate enough to witness, over a two week period, the hatching of two tiny baby hummingbirds. The nest itself was no more than an inch in diameter. The left of the composite shows the nest after the first sibling hatched. The second shows both babies snuggled up with their little beaks near the bottom of the photo. This was pretty darn cool to witness, I must admit.

Carol,
I like your imagery that records a very tender happening. Improvement might occur if you cut back on this very bold black border, and perhaps a bit more space surrounding the nests.

Excellent! Was this nest in your backyard? How were you able to access them so easily? I love the sequence you have here, is there a third one to come? Only two things I would have suggested: make the two nests the same size when presenting them, and also, the background colouring, try and make it more graduated, it looks like the nests are swimming! Great work! I've a nesting gannet in my portfolio - a much larger bird! Alice.

VERY nice, Carol! I suppose the two nests are one and the same, but evolved? Nice glimpse of nature in action! Did you ever see my little Swallow babies? Not as small, but fun to see. Great shot, thanks for sharing it!

To give you a idea of how small the nest was, here's a picture that includes my finger to give you a sense of scale.
