Usefilm lets you choose between 1s and 5s but I would say this was maybe 3 seconds. They were about 3-4 feet from a small fire (between us), and I was shooting at f/4 with iso 400 film (which I pushed a stop). I shoot almost always with available light and often in low-light conditions so I supposed it is just habit for me now, setting my body to be as steady as possible. Somebody once asked me why I stood so funny with the camera to my face, that I looked defensive. I tuck my arms in, and squished the camera to my face, and brace my body. I believe I sat down for this shot, so probably tucked my legs close into my stomach and put my arms on my knees. The diana can be especially hard to hold still since it weighs so little, maybe 6 ounces.

I agree about the tone, thanks. The brown just doesn't look right. It's hard to say though when it's your photo... takes a little time away before you view it again...

I have found that scanning B&W prints is better in colour mode - the tones are richer than in greyscale mode. It would not surprise me if the same applied to negatives. Anyway, the colour cast does not really bother me, in fact I'm having trouble perceiving it as a cast at all.

Now onto the toned version. I would say that the nature of the light and the quiet interaction between the subjects already provides a sense of warmth and intimacy. The proposed brown toning pushes this into something which seems almost artificially sweet. So I prefer the original post.

Not too blurry for 5 seconds... did you rest the camera on something or are your hands that steady? :-)

Who wants to know?
I maen specifically, is it the tax department, the garage that did my car repairs a month ago, tha garage that did the car repairs this week, visa or the electrical guys, who's put you up to asking?
I need expensive digital for a wedding february and otherwise really enjoying reading out about the classic slrs and rangefinders that are round. So I'm looking for something second hand for round 100 American I suppose something to explore for a while and takle anywhere.
(BUT NOT UNTILL I'VE PAID ALL MY BILLS.)
Very bitter last night to watch a spotmatic ii body auction for from 30 u.s. to shoot up to closer to 150! These guys must be reading the same websites. I tell you... the human mind with out the eye behind a lens to keep it busy.

That's Nice Aurore. Great emotion and interaction.
How's a holga looking right now? I'm getting pretty bitter and twisted without a camera right now.

oops... my scanner always defaults to color (even when set to scan a b&w neg) and i hadn't realized this had a color cast until after i uploaded it. But maybe i should try a tone? How's this?
