It has a horror and film noir feel to it, and something else I cant put my finger on.

this is just fantastic! i have four cats and three dogs and hardly ever take pics of them since i don't know how to do it without having them look like " pets". you are doing a great job!

Best cat pic I have seen thus far. I do not agree with some of the complaints others have voiced, because I feel you have captured the essence of this cat's being and the boosted contrast and shadows enhance this. I wouldn't turn my back on this kitty though.

Dramatic and wonderful Aurore! A great depiction!
I just wanted to say...digital work can involve a lot of time, frustration and intense manual labour...believe me... :) Kind of like a writer who uses a computer rather than a pen and an inkwell to write a novel...different process...which inevitably creates a different result...but the work, inside the mind...is still so necessary... :)
Speaking of work...haven't seen any from you in a while around here....I for one hope you post some more soon! :)

Nice expression, but I feel the light is just to harsh and the shadow too dark. I mostly have a problem with the shadows INSIDE the eyes. So so in my opinion.

Unlike the other great cat shots on this site which express "A Right to Rule" (very natural in cats - lol), this photo captures the mystery that is the existance of a cat. The lighting angle is marvelous although, as pointed out, the mouth is a little hot. The dof is very well placed, considering the aperture you've chosen. I'm just learning about this stuff, but it really helps to have marvelous examples like this.
Wish I'd taken this photo. Wish I had this adorable cat!
Great job, Aurore!

And I think you've achieved it! This caught my eye right away, with the harsh shadows and bright attentive cat-eyes. The lighting really brings out major character in your cat! Well done!

Your photo shows the art of the black and white. I like it. Maybe a little bit less contrast, it looks better ?
