The exposure info should be stored together with the image file (or so I've heard - I don't really use digital). Anyway, landscape mode should select a small aperture which would have probably resulted in a shutter speed to slow to handhold without camera shake.
First, thanks for your comments. I checked your portfolio, and I see you are serious about photography, just as I am. Please bear in mind that I am really just beginning. I had my camera set on standard landscape mode (yes, I know, automatic stinks!), so I don't know what setting it was on. It was also taken by hand, with no tripod. I have learned since this shot was posted that the tripod is my friend! I am taking photography courses now, so I hope you see an improvement in my shots over the next few weeks and months. Thanks again for your comments. I am off to look at your photos now...! Matt
I'm one of those people Susan mentioned - I don't see a subject here, there's nothing that would hold my interest. On the technical side, the image seems to lack sharpness, and the softness does not seem to have been intentional. There might be several reasons for this. What aperture and shutter speed did you use? Did you use a tripod? Was the wind blowing a lot?
Very nice. Some would look at this and not see a subject. You have a good eye. Thanks for commenting on my work. I have two months more experience than you. I started in Feb. 04! You're really lucky to be starting off with a D70. I borrow a D100 occasionally, but my camera is a manual Nikon FM2, which I love; but I dont get that instant feedback. Good luck, I'll keep checking your portfolio.
