Thanks for all your comments and suggestions along with the large doses of encouragement you all dole out. This shot was taken in Cabo San Lucas, a place I'd love to see again but am unlikely to get to anytime soon. I'll have to take what I've learned and put it to use on another subject. Ken, I actually did slip this pic into greyscale and was not displeased with the results. I'll post it sometime. Thanks again everyone.

excellent attempt....sometimes you have to take what you can get...but if you can go back with the new information you will definately be able to pull off a stunner. Would love to see the reshoot on this.

THis scene at this lighting (time of day)is beyond range of the film...John has offered some good ideas herefor you Dawn...
Ken your idea sounds like a good one for this except the contrast range would be excessive....if Dawn nails the lighting on this it would make a good b&W....

now for a different point of view dawn. love the almost monochromatic look of the image. In fact I think you ought to take this image into a image editing program like photoshop and make a grey scale image out of it ( ie a black and white image ) would love to see the results

Dawn, this place has a lot of potential. Always check your horizon line. This would be a great sunrise/sunset location. Looks a bit overexposed. Do you have a tripod? If not, get one, it will make you slow down and bring your attention to details in shots. Also a cable release is a must, but don't buy a cheap one, spend around $30 and it will last.
