Hi Roger, thanks for you comment on my 'Brickie' photo. I'm actually back in Chennai at the moment hense the low level activity from me on usefilm (56k hotel modems).
I'm trying to do some 'people' shots, inspired by your project in this area - hard work isnt it?
ANyway, back to this photo of yours - as a photograph I thing the choice if format is very well suited to this subject, long and thin, excluding any 'clutter' around the banner. The lighting is also very good, I like the way the sunlight just kisses the folds of the banner. If the light had just hit the statue full on then it would have been very dramatic.
Keep up the good work. We will speak more when I get back.
A very nice shot Roger and a worthwhile document to see a Christian banner with Hirakana characters. Personally I have mixed feelings about frames, I did for a while but changed back again. Regards, Rob.
a well lit shot Roger that fits the format very well. Thanks for the advice on the films-I think you may be right, although metering in the snow was hard the film choice could have been adjusted to suit the conditions-point taken, just glad my shots bring wales to a part of Japan! how do you find that xPan you use? how big can you enlarge the panoramics and how do you accurately judge where a Neutral density grad needs to be placed?
