The quality of light was excellent, I set up the focus zone, selected my subject, waited AND at the last minute he turned on his heel and started striding away. Well, I'm not giving up on people, and post this as evidence of the continuing attempt.
....turned away or not, this has merit as a "slice of life" pic in Tokyo no less. For example, this is a shot that looks like any college campus in the USA-- which is a little surprising to me. I think most photos are of the bright lights of downtown Tokyo? Thanks for comments on my waterfall pic-- nothing available for scale, but the little falls is about 50 ft. high. I took this @ 400mm from across a canyon and stopped down to F 22 to purposely blur the water. I could have easily shot it at F 5.6 or even F4 I think. Often I like to leave out a sense of scale for a more abstract take, but you're right on this one-- some scale would be worthwhile. Cheers. Craig
you will get one in the end maybe the new canon Mark 2...yes the other shot was my wide and your pan camera would do very well around here..the light here is so sharp, I like the fact that he moved. I could never get that sharpness here alway sea air about...rog
If he was that close to the bottom edge of the frame even after he turned away, then perhaps you had waited too long. I think about a step from where he is now (but coming in opposite direction, of course) would have been ideal. No worries though, you're obviously getting into this, so I'm sure there'll be plenty of other opportunities.
Well, the shot is certainyl nicely focussed, Roger! Not exactly my kind of picture, but I don't see anything technically wrong with it! Shame the subject turned away ~ if it was digital you'd just wipe it and wait for the next cyclist? Kind regards, Chris
You are right about the light Roger, it is excellent! Nice capture! And thanks for your comments on my flower shot. I uploaded a cropped version. Please have a look.
