Late on a cold winter afternoon, the colours had leached away except from the clouds lit by the setting sun. The peculiar effect of the swing lens on perspective is quite unobtrusive in this shot.
Yes, I would like to make a trip to Japan, just dont know when. A friend/coworker is originally from Vietnam. We've discussed making a trip to Vietnam, Korea and Japan. Vietnam he knows quite well, I know a good bit of Korea (was there for a year), but neither of us have spent any time in Japan. Would be great to invite my aunt, who is from Okinawa, to be our tour guide there, but I dont know how long its been since shes been there. So a lot might have changed. Theres a lot of resources on the internet about Japan so I think we should be ok. Id definitely want to preplan the trip to get the most out of it. I still need to make another trip to Germany to visit some relatives I havent seen for a few years.. too much to do and too little time.
Roger, this is a great shot! That time and type of day offers a good oportunity for real interesting lighting for many situations, but you don't have long to work with it. I've taken several shots in that light and was very pleased. This photo turned out great,it reminds me of old magazine photos, such as Washington Post. The coloring is fantastic and the cropping being long and narrow gives the kind of cramped feel of public transportation and crowds of city..............Randy
